    Hi!

Been hitting rocks for a while now and i seem to get to the same step all the time, just when i start to get my little base set up someone comes buy and explodes the crap out of it, and places doors up, have never seen any c4 so i cant get rid of the metal doors....
So then i gotta start over and build a new base :P lol ;D

This same thing has been going on a few times now and i just wounder if someone got some good solo base setups? I know i cant avoid getting raid and i quite enjoy the rush from it trying to survive, but when i see all the doors and the crap they leave me with its kinda annoying, like my last house was filled by Barricades and metal doors... so i had to suicide and get the hell out to start over ;)

Im in no way complaining, im just looking for tips on base building for a solo player. What should i be looking to do, build big and hope to avoid or build small and raid the siv camps?

Please, looking for some input since we got the downtime anyhow.

    Thanx alot!

    Arj

If you're playing solo build multiple shacks and spread your gear. Hide wood boxes in rocks and such with more gear spread out too. Then you can start farming either players or materials to start upgrading gear and weapons to raid :)

If you are all alone, I would suggest hiding a small house away from players for your best loot, then build a larger house for your lower tier loot and for your actual home.

The larger house can act as a decoy of sorts or it can just give you a place to fight if you enjoy that, while the smaller home keeps your valuables away from danger.

for example build a 3x3 house with maybe 3-4 floors, scatter the loot rooms across the house and add fake "loot rooms" everywhere.
until you have enough to build the house you should live in a shelter that is hidden nice and farm materials, and you should only burn fires on in the day so the shelter does not light up the whole place.

the best way to secure a base has been stated many times, its a 2x1xX tower, the taller you build it, the more secure it is, you have to pillar block so people can't just build stairs to the top and blast the wall. thats the cheapest, most secure way to protect loot.

Also something i find really helpful for small shelter placing. First, find an area that spawns resourses alot, no matter how far you get in, youll always need the basics. Second, find the nearest mountain area around and jump and climb to an area where you cant see much of ground level. Now this is a great place to build since raiders cant simply spot your base. Hope that helps

Nice tips guys! The 2v1 foundation setup is just stairwells and stuff all the way until u get to the top? Is it possible to use some of the foundantions that "pillarblock" to actually build pillars 3-4 floors to have and "extended" 5th floor? that would look AWESOME. :P

Pretty much this. The more metal doors the better. Got to make it so annoying and expensive that they either don't try at all or give up mid way because they are using to many explosives. Remember to put pillars all around so no one can build stairs to the top walls. Also no base is 100% raid proof. If they want your stuff bad enough they will get it. Just got to make it as annoying and expensive as possible for the raiders.

Edit: Remember to put the pillars in the middle of the foundations that are around your main structure, not on the corners.

Is this more efficient than a 2x2xX? This would require two doors/walls breached per level rather than just one.

2x2xX is way more resource intensive for a solo player. It can work if you can safely get the resources needed.

Be very careful with this though as any raider/griefer can just destroy your 1st level of stairs and pillar the ground floor. Meaning you can't build any steps up to your own loot leaving it all stranded up there! Much better to have small houses spread about.

My current base is a 4x4x6, then on one corner of it i have a 2x1x7 with 5 large crates, weapons/kevlar/explosives/metal building/wood building. only problem is i had to pillar block my main base roof, so I can no longer expand as a 4x4, but the minimum c4 required to reach my loot is... a lot XD

If I solo I personally use shacks with a wooden door and one small wood box. Very cheap cost wise and also limits how much you can store in there. Also some people don't even bother raiding shacks with one small box in when they can go after juicier targets. Or I simply find hiding places in rocks for my boxes.

Doesn't the 2x1xX need to be twice as high as the 2x2xX to provide the same number of walls/doors that need breaching?

    Also it's not as conspicuous.

Yea if you want the same numbers of doors yes it has to be much higher than a 2x2xX. Just depends on how secure / annoying you want it to be. I personally prefer 2x3x3 buildings with as many metal doors and decoy chest rooms as possible.

a 2x2xXwould just take 1 extra c4 for wall breach, plus it costs a lot more mats

    Edited:

with the current loot hack people are using that lets them loot through walls, i like having my high priority loot out of sight from the ground

Yes never put chest next to outer walls and always put them higher than 2x up.

Multiple 1x1, hidden well among the rocks in various spots around the map. Throw a sleeping bag in each and you can suicide around the map...

I play solo and I've been testing out some designs. But with all the latest events its been a little hard to test them properly. I'm also trying to make them cheaper for the solo player.

Anyway, I place 4 foundations in a line on a steep hill if possible. This way you cant build other foundations around it so you don't need to spend on building those foundations/pillars defense. At one end of the foundations I place 2 stairs on top of each other, ending facing into the middle foundations. Then I leave a 1 foundation gap and make it so you have to jump from the stairs across the gap and into the door which you make at that level. Then at the other end of the foundations, furthest from the 1st stairs, I make the ceiling level with the door frame ceiling room and then start building stairs on that last foundation. So you can only reach those stairs from inside.

Then you can build up and eventually go back and use the foundations fully.

I also place pillars in all places so people cant grief. So I make sure that you cant build a wall or ceiling anywhere below where someone can block me. If I don't have c4 I don't make a door to get into the lower stairs at all, so you just have to make sure no one is behind you if you fail that jump and leave the door open for a moment. If I have c4 I can place a door below and blow it up if someone tries to grief me with theirs. I also make a window facing the jump stairs to kill anyone that comes up(its almost like a trap). And you need a window to crouch jump out of from a height that doesn't break your legs but is high enough no one can get in by standing on anything.

Basically I use one door and that's it. You cant c4 it because you cant jump and place c4 and you cant reach it from below. Same with the walls I'm pretty sure because the first main room is too high. It's still a work in progress though and there's still a way to grief it but I'm not sure yet how to counter that. When you build it with metal though it makes more of a waste of c4 to grief it.

You can make this on a flat level out of metal and then leave a 1 foundation gap and place wood foundations around it. Then pillar those wood foundations and people cant build either wood or metal foundations in the gap between your metal base and the wood foundations.

*Also a tip for stashing things. Make a small stash and place your best gear in it and then place a wooden box or a furnace on top of it(hide it in the rock of the furnace). This way you cant see the stash or even use it unless you break the furnace or box.

Anyway I'm only fairly new at this and I'm still testing things out, so I'm posting to see any flaws that might be found.

I always play solo. The best thing to do is find i good spot on the edge of the resource spawns but out the way. You need to be about 4-5 mins running distance away from the edge of the farthest resource spawn area. So effectively into no mans land.

If you're going alone, you can build just one shack with most of your gear, and all your stuff, but it should be hidden REALLY well. Get a metal door for it as soon as possible as well. I have had the case where a group of bandits, but I managed to get myself out of that situation more than enough times.

As soon as you can though, get a hatchet and start farming those trees like crazy and get yourself base building supplies and set up as soon as possible. After that, you're just going to want to secure your base and it's loot up as much as you can.
