It may be the latest update they pushed. The servers need to update and the clients do too.

Apparently there are DDos attacks targeting the server providers now. This is starting to get ridiculous..

We were running perfect on both our servers ... until the patch hit!!!
Now we can't connect to any of them ... the patch is the perfect wall to stop us playing! Time to go to bed I reckon!!!!

You know, it wouldn't surprise me that uLink has a few other vulnerabilities to exploit and the script kiddies know of em. Just kept using the one and when fixed, moved to #2.

AFAIK based on the email from hosting providers I've seen posted, the new patch causes the servers to overload and crash. It's not an attack.

It’s a new one, and we’re working on it again. More news as soon as it’s available.

    1. new attack
    2. working on it to fix it ( a patch on every single corner of your dark world )

    Not an attack:

    Edited:

to reiterate the email, its not an attack on Rust/uLink, its an attack against the service providers.

We can also confirm that new attacks against Rust have begun with servers not being able to connect, us and our partners included.

you should remove that part before firing me. dumb.

The cause of the issue does not appear to be just another attack. This email, and others like it, have been sent to users from a few different hosting companies since the last patch was released.
It says that the new version of the server is causing CPUs to run much harder than they should and it is causing problems on the servers. As far as I can tell, some of these companies are turning off servers that are running.
Which would explain why many are not showing up in the server list.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't mean to double post that pic. xD
Earlier, RIGHT after the patch came out I noticed HFB's website and utilities running verrrry slowly if they loaded at all... prompted me to believe that there was a DDoS attack on them, particularly a DDoS prevention screen on their homepage. So I guess it's a double-whammy... CPU issues AND a new attack.
    Ho-hum :/

Woa why'd you rate this dumb wtf i was just giving info lol jeez

Are you not reading the last two sentences of that paragraph? The paragraph in the image pretty much states two things:

    - The new patch is increasing server CPU load and may cause server issues.
    - A new attack is happening that is causing servers to be unable to connect.

Edit: Semi-ninja'ed by the quoted poster.

Honestly though, I'd say the CPU load may cause the server to act weird but it's the attack causing the connection issues overall.

Excuse me but the issue Garry himself has to deal with is no longer an attack but whatever causes the servers to flip out. The service providers are being hit by the butthurt kids. Perhaps I should have clarified but I figured you could read for yourself.

I wonder if it's the same people. They fixed the vulnerability so now they're attacking the server hosts directly?

I get most of my servers through NFO which has DDOS protection, do other providers not have this? Or maybe this one is so big that you can't really defend against it.

Yeah word on the grapevine is that after the most recent patch, server CPU usage is cranking out at 100% and it's crashing out.

When we pay £15 for a game, it would be nice to actually play it you know? When you own a business, when shit hits the fan staff don't take holidays.

That's why when you bought the game on Steam there was a big blue banner that basically says "This game is an alpha."
There have been and will continue to be issues popping up. I'm sure they're all working hard so that we can all play.

Fortunately for you, you have the rest of your life to play once the issues are sorted, yay! Just be patient, its a good thing things are getting fixed. They would still have to be done at some point.

The issues are not about the game being alpha! It's do to with the hardware the game is hosted on. I'm fine with software bugs, what I'm not fine with is the game being hosted on some cheap taiwan server running windows 95

    Well sir :

“We are in very early development. Some things work, some things don't. We haven't totally decided where the game is headed - so things will change. Things will change a lot. We might even make changes that you think are wrong. But we have a plan. It's in our interest to make the game awesome - so please trust us.
Go write a simple 1 line email to Garry. example :-
'diz game sh1t, serverz sh1t, no c0mmunisty s3rver..sh1t, no m0dded serv3r..sh1t, no fun please refund, ne3d money for eduardocation masters phd'
