So if apparently everyone already does this, why don't we just completely remove night time from the game?
    who said they wont?

I've been bumping the gamma up/down on games for over 10 years... Takes all of about 5 seconds on your monitor. Why wouldn't you do it?

You can run around with a torch/flashlight and get picked off, or you can run in the dark.

It's designed to be played in the dark. Why would you compromise the games color calibration for some childish advantage

Why would I want to run around with a torch trying to find my way back to base after I over-extended myself on a farming trip for wood/metal etc.

It's really not that big of an advantage, it's not like you're running around in broad daylight 24/7... Just enough to see where I'm going without using a torch.

Color calibration? Get over yourself... I suppose every PC game and every TV show is meant to be viewed at the TV/monitors default settings? No. Settings are there for tweaking. If you see it as a "childish advantage" I could really care less... It's certainly the very very slightest of evils to do in this game in the current state. I'm not a bandit KOS'er either, just so you know.

    no they don't.
if you go out of your way to tamper with your brightness settings during the nighttime, then having to return them to normal during the daytime for a game, then you have bigger issues
Nearly every game on the market has an in-game gamma slider.

    Shut up.

Simply changing what mode my monitor is on to the gaming mode makes it so i can see in the dark perfectly. Sure, it's an exploit, but not a whole lot that can be done about it.

Actually, this is used in order to see in dark and kill other people & more things... The game is based on dark night so you don't anything, and if you want to see you must use torchlight or other fire... that show activity and let's bandits assault you, LOL.

All people that use gamma, crosshair & aimbot are the same shit, play with the game default.

I think an easy way to fix this is to pragmatically reduce viewing distance based on the level of light in game. They already do this with the stashes. This way it doesn't matter if you turn your gamma up nothing with appear on your screen until you are within a certain distance based on the amount of light you have around you. Flash lights could give the greatest viewing distance while torches and moonlight are less.

    Garry if you see this thread;

There is a certain time at night where it's actually PITCH black , even gamma does not help only flashlight or torch. Change night more to this to counter this gamma usage.

I'm fine without gamma, I can already see without Gamma and I can litterally see anything.

Edit: Well, the only time I can't see the night is Midnight. :/

you have to do it , the advantage it give is simply staggering. i make all my resoruce hauls at night now, which is often 10 - 20 resource nodes per night.

only problem is the people you meet at night are also doing it and tend to also do other bad things like hacks so the chance of dying to assholes is pretty considerable.

Although it's imperfect, this is the only solution. There's no other way to counter the advantage gamma modification gives you without controlling the hardware people use. As a side effect it will force torches and flashlights to be necessary at night, which forces the vision/visibility torch game of cat-and-mouse to be played by everyone, which would be pretty neat.

Rust section is such a shithole lol

    Edited:

if they want to be a faggot and up the gamma how are you going to anything about it any why should anyone care? Just kick them out if it's your server

List of people who should actually care:

list of people who apparently do: too many

that being said I can't wait till they add that method to prevent gamma usage.

^ On a side note I don't know how some people control the recoil so well ?

As far as night goes, I usually stay in doors and just do most of my crafting at night. I feel abusing gamma is abusing a mechanic in the game and just don't do it. Same goes for cross hairs with new monitors and or tieing string/dental floss around your monitor to create a cross hair. Learn to play the game the way the developers meant it to be played or piss off, is my opinion, but to each their own.

I personally have met people in game who admit to using gamma programs or whatever for being able to hunt in the night time. I for one, completely disagree with the decision to do such things and believe the game should be played as is.

Putting a dot in the middle of your screen so you can aim easier is one thing and if you are willing to deface ur monitor just for that instead of aiming down sight then more power to ya.

But for the people who go around killing at night time when normal players find it extremely hard to see is extremely unfortunate. I for one know that whenever I am killed at pitch black time I simply call hacks and ban the guy.

ya it is pretty great for farming, i do think they should try and fix this because it is a problem for people who are just using this to kill people at night.

Incredibly low sensitivity and mouse macros. It's considered cheating, but it's a lot more difficult to detect in an automated (VAC/Cheatpunch) way.

The devs are, last I heard, working on defeating gamma cheating by painting over the scene with a sub-visible fog everywhere that should be "dark", so that if you crank the gamma, this fog suddenly pops into visible brightness and blots everything out. However, apparently doing that automatically is not as easy as it sounds.

I agree, i spent a lot of money on my monitor as well. However I usually don't mess with the settings because it is color profiled :P But i get your point
