Text(with the highest Gamma)
Custom..
not really exploiting anything here
also having a cross hair is an exploit as well??.. When some of the Newer model Monitors have it built in?

If your not using the gamma trick then your at a serve disadvantage in this game as.. 90% of the older players do this...

no they don't.
if you go out of your way to tamper with your brightness settings during the nighttime, then having to return them to normal during the daytime for a game, then you have bigger issues

This isn't a exploit? Literally any person can do this with their monitor. It's out of the developers control to stop this.

There is a 2min or so every 1H cycle (45m day, 15m night). That the game is litterary pitch black. At that point no amount of gamma helps. If they want they could just increase this time.

I dont change the settings at all after turning it to "Text" I play the game with the gamma up the whole time I play rust..
I am so glad that your one of those "Older Players" joining the forums in Dec.. knowing they dont use it.. Bye....

it doesnt last 2mins though it only last for about 1:30-40 secs when I kept time on it.. and which you are right that no matter the amount of brightness that you do will help you..

Ofcourse it is an exploit... just an unpatchable exploit. Just because it is a well-known exploit, it does not mean that it should be promoted as something right.. It's just not how the game is meant to be played. If it were, flashlights wouldn't be created...

What do you define as promotion though? Do you suggest the moderators just delete all threads like these? It's completely out of control of the developers without them creating some weird system, ruining the weather and lighting as it already is.
Gamma is a default setting that can be changed within anyone's computer, and this 'problem' is persistent with any game that requires survival in the night.
I'm not saying it's a bad or good thing. I'm completely neutral to this. I'm saying that you cant exactly stop people from doing it, so what's the point of complaining.

Gamma should be increased in the game anyway. Too damn dark.

It's fine for me. Apart from a couple of minutes during the night cycle were the game is pitch black without a flashlight/torch or any light source. Other than that, the game is visisble for the rest of the time.
If you're having issues seeing for longer than that short period of time of pitch black, then either your monitor settings are bad / your monitor to eye level is bad / or you need glasses.

There's no way in hell that normal people do this nonsense. This is simply too much hassle. This was not widespread in any of the other games that have deep darkness, so I don't need to be an "older player" to assume repetitive behavior

It's in fact a very good idea. It can now be fixed. This is what should be occurring with every exploited feature and hack. If they're all posted here then they can all be fixed and this should be encouraged.

LAWLS, This was never a secret thing to do.. so you saying "This is not a huge thing in any survival game" then your mistaken as someone has already posted.. that this is in any survival base game with a pitch black nights..
I learned this trick back in October from a big group of players... back on the web browser.. so saying that the older players dont do it is just wrong..
The newer players will be using it now as well. b/c of this topic.. GeeGee

1 < x < 2 = Decimals. I rounded it to 2. You are using decimals, doesnt matter what symbolic system you go by.

Edit: To simplify things to make you understand easier - I didnt use any fractions, I rounded it to the closest 10th fraction(2).

I find having a super bright UI too much of a tradeoff to want to bother turning gamma up. Majority of players are just pussies.

It's not really unpatchable, they could add a super dark 'fog' around the player or whatever if they don't have a torch to counteract this, if the devs really wanted to.

Yea, particles would help. It would add some load on the servers tho (Lagg). As long as its nothing that can get "Turned brighter".

If they really wanted to stop gamma users all they have to do is make the night fully like the very dark time that lasts like 2 minutes but i doubt they will cus it be too dark and annoying.

I assumed everyone used this, just like everyone turns the grass off so they can see backpacks on the ground (not just for performance reasons).
