Boobiez are confirmed.
Great ideas! I like them all!
Good ideas. I have some qualms however.
Bad ideas. I will state my reasons, if I feel like it.
Terrible ideas!! Die u naked newb!!!
Boobiez are confirmed.
One for each hand~
F'yea! Quite agreed :).
lol dude I agree women should be added to the game!
Also your post made me lmao so much ;).
what would the seasonal cycle do though? different lengths of night and day and a bit of snow?
I am now 100% satisfied with this game
Hang on, let me dig up the thread, it was pretty extensive.
That would be awesome, I'd like to read that :).
Alright, thread is here. It was massively popular, but Max said they just didn't really have plans for it.
Thanks, have something to do while servers are offline ;)
Don't resurrect the thread unless you have good reason to though, it was already discussed and doesn't really need a second opinion.
Great ideas iabstract...i havent been playing because my mouse had a drink spilled on it by my ferret, but as soon as i can get a new mouse ill be active again. I also like those seasons suggestions you made jonny.
Kk good to know, I really like your idea! Wish it would be implemented QQ.
Thanks man, I worked hard on these so I appreciate the thought :).
Sounds good man, hope u get a mouse soon!
We've also got a larger group now, and are building our groups encampment atm ^^.
Well, now that the thread got resurrected, maybe it can get even more support, and get a second opinion, I suppose it is a possibility.
I feel as if the nights are dark enough as it is. Plenty of people are already complaining in chat about the length and brightness of nighttime. The phases and differing light of the moon is very interesting. I just do not feel as if pitch-black nights are necessary.
I am perfectly in favor of the idea of compasses, but a separate ore specifically for that? No. I don't think that it should be too difficult to find/build. It's not a big contraption, a compass. Adding a whole new type of metal to the game for one tool is not only unnecessary, but illogical as well.
Wolves hunting is a cool concept, but them fighting each other and having "territories" seems to be a waste of time and code. It may be realistic, but it does not improve gameplay in any way.
Cave systems are a no for me. Players would just block them off at the entrance and take everything for themselves. Some sort of mechanic would have to be in place in order to prevent people from blocking the entrances and essentially raiding it like World of Warcraft. Not caves, but maybe underground industrial facilities/mining operations?
Emoticons? What you're describing are things that can be done with a direct communication feature that allows players to type as well. There's nothing wrong with this idea, it just should be a very low priority.
The rest of the ideas are all great and thoughtful. Thank you for the time and thought you put into this thread.
Humm I don't believe you got the jist of what I was meaning.
For example: when I lived in alaska, all the moon cycles (except when it was a tiny sliver in the night sky) where quite bright and gave a distinct outline to my surroundings.
So for most nights they should have a reasonable amount of moon glow, but for full moon... it should be pretty damn easy to see (as it was in Alaska).
Illogical? no.
Unnecessary, maybe.
I'm viewing this as a way to navigate at night without the worry of losing your direction, which is a big advantage over players that don't have this and want to avoid the "hot areas" that mutants come out of or are around (suggestion #11, they dwell in caves and come out at night). So while it would be inconvenient to code ONE new ore, and give those aspects to a few different ores for variability, that would only apply to the laziest of coders (I am a coder and were all lazy haha). But it is perfectly doable, and perfect logical.
I find this idea has been seen as a waste of time by a few people, and agree it would take awhile to implement and seems unfeasible.
How it would improve gameplay imo: it would make areas with large packs harder to go into without firing your gun or having a large team of archers, so it would be a good area for large newbie parties to form their base of operations around larger packs.
Also, it would lead to starting players to work together to overcome the challenge that is presented to them right off the bat, and possibly help form a relationship of cooperation and friendship through the experience of fighting off a pack of wolfs together.
Also it would make a dynamically changing danger or no-danger environment that would change as people kill the packs, or packs eviscerate each-other (not to mention watching it would be a cool element, and newbs to pick up the loot).
I personally think cave systems imply there will be mining operations imo, but I suppose it wasn't clear enough; yes, mining operations and such are included in my original thought process.
I also think if players manage to make a base around the cave system that is infested with mutants, they better have strong defenses and be VERY QUIET at night or risk being ripped apart by these agile and strong mutants. Also the ability for the mutants to vertical climb could be a fix for the blocking off of the cave systems; as suggested ealier in this thread.
I personally don't read ingame chat unless its night time, or one my buddies says something about it over skype/steam chat.
I think having things like the emoticons that I've suggested could set the people with no-mics on nearly the same footing as players with mics, like myself.
Also the give-up option (player is lootable) could lead to less KOS encounters, and less times where people will get murdered after said person was held up for the metal/wood they just mined out of said area.
I do agree these are low priority, but as I've stated earlier these are suggestions for when the bugs/hacks/DDos issues/and high priority additions are finished.
Many of your ideas are very good! I don't know about implementation (how possible/easy it would be), but theoretically, there some very good ideas in there.
I think night should be the same time but... decrease the time it takes to go from slightly dark to pitch black by like 90% making the time it is slightly dark 90% shorter and adding that to pitch black
I love the night system but the fact people can just exploit it with gamma, I tested it myself and for a small amount of time the game is impossible to see without a light source no matter what your gamma is and that is how it should be!
ik... it sucks that we would lose the staring at your screen and barely seeing but we need to remove the advantage of people using gamma... this is the only way and i don't think it would hurt htat much
Yeah, I like this. It would be an easy prevention of the abuse of gamma. If people complain, don't forget we spawn with a torch, and torches are very easy to craft. Sure, it will give your position away, but that's how things work when you are surviving.
Agreed, I've seen the abuse of gamma thing and was surprised people would go through this much effort to see at night haha.
Glad u voted!
I can see that you took some of these suggestions straight from dayZ SA.
I don't play DayZ standalone friend :).
Check out my profile on steam: iAbstract
I did however play DayZ mod, for about an hour haha.
*Edited* Just bought DayZ standalone, though only played it for an hour. Dang that game is difficult.
So thought I'd give people something to read pertaining to rust while the servers are down.
