    That's why I like Kronix's map, each town has it's own name.
    Eh I gave all the towns my own name the first few days. What my group uses.

    Kronix names too much bullshit, and the towns have terrible names. Civ this civ that... not to mention ballzack mountain...

    Yea some of the names are dumb, but I could care less, I just like to have a name that I can refer to something by, thats all.

    Update:

    - added area tool
    - added label tool
    - added grid overlay
    - function to toggle the visibility of the different markers
    - different bugfixes and changes
    - added donation button :)

    With the area tool you can mark areas and place labels on them or just use labels to leave some notes for your viewers. You could even build a legend with the combination of labels areas and markers. Like this example: http://imgur.com/8t7z7dM

    Took some time to add the new tools, hope you like it.

    Rust Map Marks has now a Top Level Domain. From now on you can find Rust Map Marks under:

    http://rustmapmarks.com

    The old link to your map still works but please use this URL in the future.

    Your old map can also be found under:
    rustmapmarks.com/maps.php?h=[your code]

    Credits to Rob Jackson rjackson.me for supporting us with this domain!

    My only suggestion, change the buttons on your site. The expanding bar of links is bloody annoying >.<

    Otherwise, if I ever play with a group on my server, I will try to remember this.

    Thanks man! I have been working on a map on this app on my iPad and it looks like something a naked guy would have in his house. Keep up the good work!

    Best map tool out there!

    Could you also maybe add X & Z coordinates on the map if its possible?

    With mods like rust++ I could ask my friend to type /location and have him read off the coordinates. Using the coordinates I could find his exact location or even tell him where he is so he learns the map a little bit faster. He could also tell me the location of his secret bases. I also find it a bit hard to judge exactly where my base is so with the X, Z coordinates I could put a marker at the correct spot of where my base is at.

    Also as an admin of a server that imitates creative mode from minecraft(infinite resources, build anything), id love to be able to teleport myself and other players to specific areas of the map.... areas that would be far too inaccessible for griefers. At the current moment I am just teleporting randomly and I have no idea if I will teleport myself over land or over the ocean!

    Example:
    Looking at the map it would show...
    W12 (X:5963, Z:-3534)
    W12 is where a radtown is located. The coordinates for it would show up on the map after W12. Using the map I could easily teleport myself to there.

    @Rust++ coordinates, i have to figure out how to map the coordinates on the map. 1 pixel on the map = ? how far in game. Will look for that.

    Rust Map Marks Update:
    - Area names added
    - Cancel Tool by pressing ESC
    - Interface update

    Let me know what you think. Is the color ok for the area names? More transparancy?

    How do you save the map? I logged into the site, created map. Saved map as save image as. Moved that image into the rust overlay folder, set the settings to Map=nameofmymap.png . The only thing is the settings folder I have in rustoverlay just says settings not settings.ini. Any help would be appreciated.

    Same problem here.
    in settings.ini

    [SETTINGS]
    Map=nameofmymap.jpg <---- THIS LINE
    Transparancy=80
    ScrollSpeed=8
    toggleKey=0x4D
    rustWindowTitle=PlayRust
    showLogo=true

    And copy the nameofmymap.jpg where the RustMapOverlay.exe is.
    If you save a map that you created with the map tool you probably have just the markings and no map behind, right? You could use Photoshop and Gimp and Map on a map you want. But RustMapOverlay is something different it's not made for the map tool on the site. The Map Overlay should be used with some normal map from the playrustwiki for example. Look link on the Website.

    There is a thread just for the Map Overlay Tool: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1347224

    Awesome idea, ran across it googeling things the other day and was a little weary... One question...

    About the overlay feature:

    As I am not completely familiar with what Valve looks for as far as overlays and the such, what is the chance of this being flagged as a false-positive?

    You can now advertise on Rust Map Marks (through projectwonderful.com). Might be interesting for server owners or other rust related sites.
