God please no, if they do add this I know what I'm rushing.
Don't add it
Add it
God please no, if they do add this I know what I'm rushing.
This is concerning. Doors need combo locks as a priority.
Make this topic alive again!
Its now on "doing" on the trello!
Thank god the majority of people who voted said no. I still cant believe this is under the "doing" tab and preventing hackers from looting through walls and noclipping isnt... Shouldnt fixing the hacking issue be what they are working on right now? Forget about the helicopter and revolver animation because nobody is going to continue to play if the only people with a helicopter are hackers. Unless I am not following the tabs properly and the "priority" tab is more important then the "doing" tab but that wouldnt make much sense to me...
My friend came up with a great idea. Instead of locking a backpack what about if you made it so that, in order to move something from their backpack to your backpack you had to put it on your hotbar first. (i can't hold a shotgun and grab 250 ammo, and armor, and all this other stuff) You would have to take an item from the backpack, put it into your hotbar (your hand) and from there you could put it into your backpack.
You could do this or you could maybe have a loot timer based on how much stuff they have so that one thing appears for you to loot every second or so as you're rummaging around in the person's backpage.
I think it's a great idea, maybe even allow backpacks to be picked up and moved (only it would encumber you just as much or more than crafting does). Who knows, it may or may not put a damper on those players who chose to "call of duty" their way through the game - don't knock it til you try it! This could make gameplay a helluva lot more interesting. Mowing down someone who you think has stuff you want could end up being risky. I can see other players starting to snipe out these gunfights, waiting in the shadows until there's a last man standing. So instead of resorting to shoot on sight, it might become more feasible to actually interact with other players before resorting to ringing the dinner bell with gunfire (whether it be threatening and telling them to drop their weapons, or working together, bartering). Who knows
Edited:
Unless there's a way to build a 3d model that prevents hackers, I don't follow your mentality. Or, ya kno, all other work could halt until the most inevitable aspect of all popular multiplayer games is ironed out 100%.
Hope it's added so we can test it out, the lockpicks sound really cool. Glad the devs don't listen to polls made by people who don't understand what an alpha is.
Yep. I think the idea of different packpacks and lockpicks could be interesting.
We'll see what they come up with and either accept it or reject it in mass.
Don't fail this game up.
No pampering the weak.
To weak to use a lockpick? ;-)
I know what to use to key my door >:)
http://www.hark.com/clips/psyxvvnxgv-winky-was-a-key
It seems well intended but counter productive. The rich will have no problem continuing to slaughter freshies because they have plenty of keys while the new spawns wont be able to loot for 5 mins.
its still on the list :/
locking the backpack means nothing, without a sleeping bag, the person has no chance. Ontop of that it slows the game play down even more. it's bloody stupid, you'll put a lock on my backpack, but you won't put a lock on my crate? what kind of backwards logic is that?
I don't get this... ok so not everything ingame is "realistic", zombies dropping walls, backpacks holds rifles/pillars/1k wood and stuff like that, i get that 'cus it's a game...a GREAT game... but killing someone just to find a backpack that wont open for a while is just an annoyance for everyone including the victim, giving him a false hope.
IF this where the case in some f**ed up reality you could either just RIP the damn bag apart OR just pick it up and walk away.
Forcing us to camp a backpack and kill the poor victim over and over when he keeps running back screaming, with his rock, thinking "he has 5 minutes to get his hard earned resources back" is just sick... THIS would actually play on my conscience. and I do NOT like to be reminded that i have one in rust.
I had a conscience, and i had trust, when i started playing and i died A LOT due to this so... PLEACE! don't force human emotions on me!
Unless this lock is something you can find in loot that you activate and only works for one death.... could actually add a fun twist to raiding.
"You guard the bag! i'll kill the other 50 raiders!" (i'w never actually never killed 50 raiders, just wanted to look cool on the internetz)
Don't add locks to the loot please, it's ridiculous.
Locks are a bad idea, posting this to show people still think it is after a month has passed.
Honestly I was fine with the idea of locked backpacks though as mentioned on another thread I liked the ideas to be able to drag/move the backpack away as well at a slow speed. We need to be able to get into the backpack so lock picking sounds ok.
Though I think and agree with many its a "protection" a raider breaks into your house throws a bunch of loot in his pack and you kill him and its stuck there. I would say give options to "lock" your pack, but while its locked not allow them access to their inventory or loot items into it without unlocking it.
When you move the bag pack, its even more op then before
normally it takes time until you get all of the item out of the bag, and at this time, you can get killed easily
But taking the bag to your home and crack it with some shit is much much easier then staying at the battle field with a chance to get kill, so for what?
Also, its now on "Next Version" ....
Please garry read this, we dont need the backpack locks..
i havent seen one person who likes the concept as its being interpreted. You surely arent alone. Garry and the boys better have an ace up their sleeve that make this mechanic work. If not its going to flop hard
