Yeah I know, I have some experience with OC. In fact, my cpu is clocked right now (it's a Phenom II 940, which is exactly the same chip as the 965, minus the factory OC and unlocked multiplier). It's running @~3.5Ghz (stock 3.0), stock voltage. I'm thinking of getting a new cooler, and upping the volts a bit to try and reach the 4 Ghz mark.

I usually ask people the voltage with these OCed chips so I can get a ballpark figure before I do it.
    Thanks for the tips anyway!
Back when I had my Athlon II, I clocked it up to 4.5 (stock 3.8) and the cooling system was screaming away, and surprisingly, I didn't burn the thing out! I only did it one time though, just for the purpose of experimenting.

Surprisingly, my chip even overclocked runs pretty cool on the stock cooler, I guess i lucked out on the silicon lottery. Doesn't go above 40c in games, and doesn't go above ~53c when stress testing with OCCT.

It sucks about the locked multiplier, however with the right touch it's very easy to overclock past it using the FSB if you have a good board which allows you to downclock memory/hypertransport and lock pci-e values.

I know people who ran 965BE at 95c (under load) on stock frequency (due to poor maintenance I can only imagine) and the things still lasted years.

Due to the high TDP AMD cpus have a tendency to generate a lot of heat (especially if improperly maintained), but one thing is sure, they can also take a lot of that heat.

Yes, will play on medium-high or better is my estimate.

    Edited:

You're pushing it. Probably low, but I am not sure, I don't know how well the GT cards perform.

So do u think i can run it on low settings? cuz the ram seems to scare me. Also the GT630 works really wonders for the game i play. D3/LoL/CSGO etc

Nope, you got the exact same specs as I do in my laptop (like Verbatim. 768 MB VRAM, right?) You will get about 20 fps on lowest.

I just bought the Lenovo K450 and it's coming in the mail soon. But I am dieing to find out what FPS you think I will get when I play one lowest settings. It's upgradable so I know I need a better GPU but I would like to know the FPS I can run on lowest, medium, and highest setting. Please reply if you think this desktop will work. I think I got a good deal on it for only $470. Looking to upgrade it soon.

Processor: Intel Quad Core i5-4430 (3.00 GHz up to 3.20 GHz, 6MB L2 Cache)
Operating System: Windows 8 Standard 64 - English
    GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 630M 2GB Graphics Card
    RAM: 8 GB (2 x 4GB) PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz UDIMM Memory
Hard Drive: 1 TB 7200RPM Serial ATA 2.5" Hard Drive

not likely.. on the lowest settings with super low fps probably... unless you have extra dedicated GPU with more power.

you should run fine on max.. (you might have vsync forced on from videocard settings that forces you to 60 fps cap)

GPU is pretty weak though.. but you should be able to play with decent fps on lowest settings.
rest of the parts are fine.

PS i never get why people buy super expensive CPU's and then superlow GPUs - if they want to just play games.

$100 CPU will do just fine for most of the games, but GPU is the thing that needs to be higher .. like $200+ to have no worries about FPS.

The FX-6300 is nearly up there with the I5 2500K! A £90 processor vs A £170 processor, if you ask me I'd go for the AMD processor for a little less performance.

I know exactly what you mean. That's why I mentioned I am getting a new GPU soon lol. I think I will probably got for the GTX 770 Ti when I get enough money. But if I hit at least 30 fps then I am fine. It was a good deal you have to admit though for only $470? I know how to build a PC it's just that I am too lazy. Just wondering if I can play Rust playable at the moment. I used to play Rust on my friends Dell Inspiron 17r which had integrated graphics which was weird because it didn't lag at all.

Tweak the known options on console and Launch options on Steam.

Eventually there might be better graphic support.

Also google "can you run it", and it will take you to a website that does a quick Diagnosis of your PC specs and lets you know if it will run Rust and many other games.

no you wont be able to play that with more than same fps as in DayZ
Intel IGP's just wont cut those games.

ur gtx 770 is way above gtx260

but yeah... with 260 it should run mostly fine... its an old card but its not super low end.

gts 250 however is rebranded 9500 or 9600 if i remember correctly..and those are quite lowend + old

Before I bought Rust I googled if I could run it on a 9800GT and everyone says you can't.

    Turns out it runs just fine on my system;

    Gigabyte 9800GT slightly OC'd @ 740Mhz GPU / 1750Mhz Shader / 900Mhz Memory
    5GB DDR2

yep i wrote some time ago here that 9800 is able to pull that game off with fairly good framerates
even 8800 can do it.. those are old cards but at least high end cards from the old area... they have raw power to run it

Yeah, you will play fine, but make sure to force rust to use Radeon, since Intel HD Graphics will not come anywhere near enough for playing rust.
