Why not?

Private Servers Offer:
-Freedom of choice, what size server do you want to join? What type of community? etc.
-Active admins to manage cheaters.
-Beyond dev support, i.e. whitelist
-"Minecraft" like possibilities in what could be offered in the future.
-As well as anything an "official server" could offer.

Downsides:
-Some may have overzealous admins or admins that abuse power. Maybe they spawn 15 airdrops at a time, some people may like that.
-Not much control server side beyond the typical godmode/noclip/ban powers everyone complains about... none of which are any different than most games today.

Nope on both accounts. Do I have numbers in my name? ;) In my years on the internet I've noticed two things: The younger a person is the more likely they are to have numbers in their name (i.e. birthyear), and the quicker they are to try and call somebody out on their age.

Tbh, majority doesn't matter. The handful of people on dev team do. And last time I checked they were about player freedom. I don't see them restricting that by getting rid of private servers.

And there were still 33% votes no on the other topic. I'm just tired of their argument that anybody against it isn't trying to properly argue at all. Which is exactly what they're doing. :)

Then they players can make their own choice.
At the moment no one even knows what's official and what's not.

I have no issue with them being separate either. But according to "them" private servers existing at all kills the game somehow.

I can't be bothered with admins that kick/ban just cause u C4'ed them or come back with God mode and 300 bullets on them just to be sure they can spam and build 10 levels high metal structures ..

No thanks, maybe there are some honest guy, but I very much doubt they are anywhere more than 1-2% of the actual admins. Having the "tools" to use to yoru advantage u give in, u use them, you fuck up everything
Why would you need the commands anyway, u'll just give yourself everythign, game shouldn't be as enjoyable. OHHH I forgot, u are a dumb kid and winning it's the only way for u.

Happened on a lot of servers, admins using a lot of commands just to chase you with a fcuking pickaxe while being invulnerable .

Interesting story. I guess I've picked servers better. You might be more credible if you bothered to type out you instead of "u". And I can't tell if you're trying to accuse me of being a "dumb kid" or just attempting to make a general statement.

"Since" implies after an event. No I didn't play rust prior to private servers being hosted. I started a few days before the server browser blew up. I don't see the issue of having a bunch of servers as options to play on. Nearly every game is ran that way, with the exceptions of primarily MMO's.


The map doesn't support much over 100 people, I don't see the appeal. I'm not into chasing people in kevlar with m4's with my rock. Yes the map is quite large, so much of it is just too far from anything to be worth playing in.


Then there's the always arguable its a beta, of course they're going to start with a few servers. The issue isn't private servers, its the lack of new people. You can't open up server hosting and restrict then eliminate key sales. I imagine the whole problem will clear up in a few days.

Other than the people stuck in nostalgia land.
