5th of December - "Also before you say “STOP UPDATING THE WEBSITE AND UPDATE THE GAME” – Helk will be pushing a new update out later today."
6th of December - "The bad news is the patch won’t be ready until tomorrow, the good news is there will be some new content in addition to bug fixes, performance improvements, and stability. Sorry again guys"
7th of December - "Hey guys, we’ve rolled the patch out under the development branch. We will roll it out to the live servers as soon as we’re sure there aren’t any game-breaking issues with it, I’m hoping tomorrow or Monday. Stay tuned!"

Today is Monday the 9th.. And its starting to look very unlikely for tonight, Personally i believe you company should keep on giving us false information on dates and such, just leave it dateless if you cant stick to a date.

Seen another user be banned for complaining yet its a alpha and you ask for feedback and have a "Rant" icon.

Pretty pathetic if I'm banned for this but i wouldn't care to be honest. Would just prove a point that your company is a bunch of amateurs if i am indeed banned. "Lets just ban them so we don't have to reply! The cowards way because its easy since we know their right and we don't have a comeback."

(User was permabanned for this post ("alt of tobbo" - postal))

Software is a tricky, often unpredictable thing. The only thing that comments like these reinforce is that they shouldn't provide any updates at all until right before they release. I, for one, would prefer more frequent updates, even if it is 'well, we got stuck on a bug, so it isn't happening tonight.'

I am playing on the patch personally. Why not just switch to dev branch?

I think you were replying to the wrong post. I didn't say anything of the sort. I was commenting on the OP and saying that whining about not getting an update will just make Facepunch not want to provide any progress updates at all.

We put it on the dev branch and are making sure it has as few issues as possible, We're still on target for making it live today

If steam release in 2 days then I think there is no point in making it public today... Since it will be another wipe in 2 day.

Not every server will wipe upon steam release, and not every server would wipe for this update (assuming no save file breaking changes).

Considering less than 10% of the servers have more than 15 people on them, I'm not sure what your appeal to percentages is trying to prove.
