*Title should be "Building Removal Admin Tool" .. Sorry for the mistype!
It happens.. People leave a cluttered mess of unfinished/glitched/in-the-way buildings.. People also make mistakes.
I think there should be a tool (admin use only) to remove building materials from the map. I understand that a decent number of you will be against this because of admin abuse. It's simple though... Don't play in servers where the admins unduly remove your stuff.

This way admin-abusers will just remove a wall and grab everything in it.
So i don't think it's a great idea

Knox true they could troll but then people will just eventually not play on that server. But an admin wouldnt bother seeing as they can spawn any amount of item in easier than that. I just wish they would fix pillar and foundation destructibility.

Some admins such as my self can find usage of something of the sorts like this to remove shit from loot spawns (mainly pillars and foundations)

This can be used to remove grief on no-griefing server. This is aboslutely needed.

As Parrot said, this is needed to prevent griefing.
A regular on my server got his tower ceiling'ed off on the 2nd floor during PvE hours. It's impossible for me to do anything as an admin or a server.
My only options are:
1. Wait for the building to decay - I lose a regular as he's pissed off.
2. Spawn materials for him to build a new house - I don't allow any admins spawning materials on my main server. No exceptions.
3. He moves on, either quitting the server or hopefully tries again.
I would like it if the 'Uber Hatchet' which admins can spawn can 1 hit everything - Including pillars, foundations, ceilings of both materials.
I agree admins will abuse their power BUT I'm confident these servers will die out when no one wants to play on them.

Exactly.. You understand my point. We all have the choice to play in whatever server we want. Admins will definitely abuse this..but their servers will be shit.
I forgot about the Uber Hatchet... It would be perfect if it we one hit removal for everything.

This way of thinking is just sub par, Why would a admin need to steal your items when he can spawn all item in the game? Admins need total power and control of the server that they are on. Surely Developers know this and as they already have some tools set in place we should look at this as early development build and just give our suggestions like mostly everyone is going here.

I remember seeing a video of Helk using it. That would be a useful tool for Admins but there should still be a one click removal tool for Admins to use on any player generated structures.

I'm working on something so that people who own a building will be able to hatchet down parts of their own building pretty easily. I can also make it so admins can also deal melee damage to *any* building?

The thing about it is ofcourse people will abuse it, but why would you play in a server with immature administration like that?
I think it's a good idea to remove objects that were placed blocking things etc, but I can see it being abused in ALOT of servers by administration.

It would be great if there were maybe an item you could find like a "Toolbox". This item could be uncraftable but would allow you to modify existing buildings...that you own of course.
For example.. If you wanted to demo some foundation or pillars, the Toolbox would be needed to remove the object back into you inventory or place it a different way. This would eliminate destroying building materials and wasting resources.

This is a great idea! And the developers should not have to worry about how an "admin" would abuse this no matter what the developers do short of not including any type of admin, server owners and admin will abuse these powers and as everyone has said many times before those servers will not last long.

I would like to stress again the importance of this. Many people on my Purge server have had their houses grief'd during PvE hours.
Now im not against griefing but where you can't destroy ceilings and can't place foundations near the original base their house is completely fuk'd.
Now they either quit the server/game or make a new massive base. It just means a lot of abandoned buildings.
Admins have to have it so they can control the server they own. please can we implement:
+ Uber hatchet that can destroy any building part/material
+ Changing c4 to no damage when PvE enabled
This would go such a long way.

As you all can see..This is something that is highly desired by server owners/admin. If we keep pushing the issue I'm sure Facepunch will see it's importance and hopefully make efforts in the future to make this a part of the game by release.

I've been trying to push this for quite some time... I hope it gets implemented soon since griefeing is still a massive issuse even with very populated servers with massive PvP....
