There is already an option, press F1 to open the console, type in: grass.on false

I think he's asking for a toggle in the options so he doesn't have to type the console command every time he logs in...

I'm disagree with this suggestion ; i'm also opposed to the possibility of disable grass in console command, but it's an alpha and maybe this option will disappear later.. Maybe an option for change the density, or the spacing are more appropriate ?

Why are you against disabling grass? It's useless in this game...just a "cosmetic" feature.

Maybe a cosmetic's feature, but more realistic ; the map seems less "empty" and more natural. Rust island is not a desert i think, so it's natural to have grass on the ground, isn't it ?

Agreed. When I'm crouched down, hiding in the grass...I want it to be hard for others to see me. But I assume most people have grass turned off. Also, this is almost 2014. Games need features like this instead of a flat grass texture on the ground.

And if we can crawl in the future, grass will be very very useful (but, like i said, need to delete the option for disable grass in the console). In 2013, a game must have grass on his ground, not trashy flat textures

Or it just adds excess clutter and makes it hard to see loot after you kill somebody. Not to mention it destroys a lot of peoples FPS.

But I see where they're coming from. If you're in tall grass, it SHOULD be harder to find loot. I like the idea of varying grass heights in different parts of the map though. I don't know why the entire island would be covered in tall grass.

Well I mean I see it too. But I'd rather be able to play the game smoothly than at bad fps. All for some grass.

Once the FPS/leak is fixed the grass should stay IMO as it adds an an obstacle or leverage depending on the point of view. Being able to hide from fire is essential as is having to scan your surroundings in caution as a hunter. The only reason it is an option to be disabled is that it's a temporary fix while issues are raised because of it. If it's hard for someone to find loot then it's hard for everyone to find loot.... fair game.

Oh if I can have the grass on and still have the game playable it'd be great. Other than I'd shut it off because everyone else has it off. Its not so much the loot, as with displacement that will fix that issue. It blocks so much vision though.

Also option to remove trees and mountains please, so no one can hide anymore! :D

What graphics card/cpu you have that causes so much issues with grass? I'm running 7970 3GB without issues and it's quite cheap these days.
