Well this order has been cancelled and refunded already. I apologize that we were out of stock and had to bring more machines online to add stock to the location that you chose. However you were presented with every viable alternative that we offer or you could have chosen to simply wait and have your server setup when we added more stock. Secondly I do not see "half a dozen emails" in your account but I do see the ticket that was responded to and addressed. If you experienced any lack of professionalism on our part please let me know as I would like to address this.
True professionalism. You've got my vote, if you actually stick to the 20 dollar thing I may go with you guys since i am in phx az. If you have a sec to assist me i'm not sure how to ping the address there if you could throw me a hint. (:

Then why does your support team seem oblivious to this fact? On top of this, why are other companies able to host Rust servers while being listed without an issue? For the record that is the link I used. I had to add a mumble server to my order to get it in there, and it cost me money it was not free.
With the way these attacks scan the server lists, servers that are offline or empty during the scan do not get hit with the attack. So some servers can manage to stay online for periods of time. Mine included, which is an HFB server.

My HFB Server is down. I'm willing to bet if I had root access to the server I could put in a workaround for the DDOS in the midterm. The irony is the inability to host your own servers is exactly why they're doing the DDOS and the exact reason our server is down.

Our support team is not oblivious to this fact, in fact they have been responding to hundreds of tickets each day about this issue tell customers almost exactly what I have stated above. If you PM me your ticket number and email I can refund your mumble service fee and set it to free.

It is also worth noting that at present we host over 1000 active rust servers, and since we do Not enforce branding it is very possible that a server you think is another company is indeed hosted by us.

I rent a server at HFBServers,
and even though I can understand that rust is getting Ddos attacks and there is nothing that Garry and his team can do right this minute!,
There is something that you can do as a server provider,
and that is halt all rust server sales effective immediately,
until all is well again in server stability, (Ddos)
and I can understand the anst of Mr "SuperNuts"
as it really does suck to pay for a server and getting all exited of seeing that your login information has been emailed to you,
and then logging into your server you see a "server: Unknown" status report staring at your face!

Feel free to PM us what you feel would fix the issue, we are very open to any and all ideas, please note however Rust requires windows, so any fix you PM would need to be able to be applied to windows. All the "fixes" people are posting thus far are simple iptables (linux only) fixes.

There has been a lot of talk about sized packets, have you guys observed (wireshark, for example) malicious packets to all be a fixed size?

At worst case, could I PM you a few IP's to whitelist and drop all others so alteast me and a few friends could play on our server in the interim?

If someone's a dumbass enough to get mad at HFB for what's going on...I don't even know. Between the DDoSing (Which obviously they've had no control over) everything has worked very well. The support was fast and very helpful and explained a lot of different issues that I have had. I'm definitely very happy so far, and I've only gotten the bare minimum for $20 so far.

Here is a tutorial (we did not make this) on how to ping an IP http://www.wikihow.com/Ping-an-IP-Address

It seems the Rust developers have released a patch to address the attack issue, If this patch does not indeed fix the issue we will attempt more indepth testing similar to what you outlined internally.

Well, to be fair I'm not upset with HFB but they do share responsibility with the developers as they offer a paid hosting service. If their IP's are being targeted by DDOS and preventing us from using the servers they do share responsibility. I'm glad they are responding to people here though.

A few things I would expect:
    -Responsiveness, looks good here.
-Prorated free time for this downtime. We are paying for something we can't use.
-A whitelist workaround for known good IP's, if there is no better workaround conceivable.

Personally I'd like to see a wireshark to our server and port. I'm willing to bet I could find a free open source host-based IPS and write a signature to match empty UDP packets "^$" and drop them.

Why aren't the HFB Servers online? I'm paying for one right now and they're still offline

The developers within the past 30 minutes Just released an update, so it will be up to server admins such as your self to apply the update to your server via the steam update button. Your server will not be joinable until you do so.

Glad to see HFBServers is actually posting on the games forums, awesome to see from a hosting company.

Even more surprised to see this at 1 AM! (my time)

I think I will get a server with you once the problems die down, just one question, if the majority of players on the server will be from Virginia what hosting location would you recommend?

I would most likely recommend NY or Ohio as they are the two closest locations that we offer to you, but NY will probably have the better ping of the two.

I have been doing business with HFB for over a year now. I've had a DayZ server for just over a year and just recently picked up a Rust server. They have always been good to us. I will continue to use them for any servers I need that they provide.

    I would recommend them.

Have had a 100 man rust server for about 2 weeks, server has been great , the game has not ...the DDOS stuff thats hitting the game cant really be blamed on the servers. Having HFB stop selling out servers because you failed to research the main rust site and see that it is under attack is not HFBs fault or problem. Update your server, update your client...if your server still doesnt load it will be the DDOS attacks causing it im sure. I have to try about 3-4 times to connect to my server when the attacks are bad.

Here is my (short) experience with this company:

I went online after seeing the ad on this site for them. I paid and got a server in my area. I waited bout 4 hours and still wasnt setup so I submitted a support ticket about it which was answered very fast. They told me that there were no servers left at the location I picked and they offered to give me one at a near by location of my choice or I could wait for them to get the new servers up that they had ordered.

I chose to wait for the new ones to be setup which happened the same day. I also forgot about the promo code when I ordered which they also fixed. These people did everything they could to make it go smooth. Great service as far as I am concerned. Only reason I had to cancel my service is I am relocating for the next few months out of country with work. However soon as I get back this is where I will get another server setup.

I got a server from HFB just before the DDoS attacks. They were very helpful and are always fast to reply. A+ Company.
