Wait people actually make C4? I'll be honest I get most of mine from airdrops or zombies. I only actually craft C4 when I happen to have a full stack of Animal Fat, and that only makes like 4 C4 per stack. One Airdrop can give 4 C4. Also, they drop from zeds. Farming enough Animal Fat for the explosives would probably take longer than just pew pewing some zombies/waiting for and getting an air drop. I get the feeling the people with *huge* stockpiles of C4 either have a lot of people in the group to do farming, stockpile C4 and never use it, or were duping.
Why not just replace them with shrap-metal explosives
Yeah I'd rather see all c4 crafted only and completely removed from the loot tables of air drops and zombies. I've gotten 12 c4 from 1 air drop (3 boxes). That's just ridiculous considering it happened on a fresh server.
I like this suggestion more. I wouldn't say completely remove them so much as increase the rarity and reduce the amount given. 12 C4 is way more than enough to breach most bases.
That's should not be possible. There are 4 types of supply drops and only one type contains a single explosive charge.. Unless the code is fubar somehow :)

I'd prefer if you couldn't learn explosives. That they're only obtained via air drops. That way people could only really use grenades en-mass. Which are unreliable at best.
Duping is the problem not the C4
A lot of you are also forgetting that another reason for C4 use is to fix mistakes in your buildings.
They should replace C4 by handmade bombs and explosive! That would be awesome!
I'm unsure what the debate about Grenades is, It took me 10 to take down a metal door on a wooden frame and the wall next to it.
That's 100 metal fragments and 350 gunpowder. Pretty realistic if you ask me.
I can confirm air drops dropping multiple c4, zombies dropping them often, and crate spawns having them too. having to craft c4 is the way to go. Air drops should only drop explosives.
+1 to what the other guys said. Not long ago I found 4 C4 in a single box supply drop. After that I found 3 C4 in another drop along with various wooden/metal building supplies.
c4 is already expensive and rare.. maybe it used to be a lot because of the dupe.... trust me the dupe excised for more than a month now its just it was kinnda secret thing .. only some people knew it and abused it so that was why people kept raiding and destroying bases
It's not at all expensive and rare to people who regularly got air drops or killed a lot of zombies. It's expensive to craft sure, but when air drops can potentially give up to 12?
I would prefer for there to also be much much less C4. I would prefer it not possible to craft c4 or m4. Bit ridiculous that it is. These items should only be available in an air drop.

Raiding is part of the game. Got raided? Move along and build a better base! If it takes 30 C4 to get to your storage room, they will think twice if they raid you.

And another problem on limiting C4 to airdrops: Strong groups will have the most C4 in the game cause they get the airdrop by killing smaller groups or non grouped players. So ask yourself: What will change? In the end: Nothing. The largest and strongest group on the server will have the most C4. But there would be a difference: Small groups will have mostly not a singe piece of C4...
Conclusion: BAD IDEA!

The 2 C4 it would take is 600 gun powder, 120 animal fat, and 100somethingstoppeddoingmathhere Sulfur. Yes. Grenades are unbalanced considering they can hit multiple objects and take so little to craft.

Wrong, I'm a server owner and interested in the balance of the game. It was already stated as a bug and hopefully it gets fixed soon.
At first I thought this was very stupid but if you think about realism, a naked man crafting a c4 out of sulfun, charcoal, animal fat, cloth and flares seems very stupid. I say C4 only on plane drops but much more powerful, enought to blow up an entire 1x1 wood base
In my opinion, It should be very very very hard to get Explosive Charges.... The server I am on was wiped yesterday and there are guys running around with more C4 than they know what to do with..... C4 should be an OH SHIT factor, when really it is normal to have plenty of it.
Researching C4 is just to much you get raided every day that is so annoying. It should be just found by airdrops and not craftable.
If airdrops aren't supposed to be dropping up to 12 C4 per day and that gets fixed, I'll totally agree to airdrops/loot C4 only. As it is now C4 is waaaay too easy to loot and comparatively too hard to craft.
I can confirm also that I have got 2 stacks of C4's from a single airdrop crate.
Well... increase the health of doors, if u do a metal base and the walls have the health to withstand 7 C4, have the metal doors do the same, 7 C4.
The most balanced way is to have it tediouse enough to get in, but not impossible. Allso by having a harder time getting in, the reward will be greater since people will stockpile more.
If it took 7 C4 to blow a door/wall, people would think twise b4 going on a full server raid spree -.-
I've no idea how the release will be, they may aswell add NPC that protects the base(i dunno).
Remember it's Alpha, Picklocking maybe will be added, Traps may aswell be coming.
(Add a huge shockwave to the C4, sure blowing the 1th door will be easy, doing it in tight areas u beter run down quick enough)
1. Increase Door health
2. Add smoke as a byproduct from using C4, breath that shit in until you suffocate.
3. Add maulfunctioning C4, Blow on placing, timer is more random, like u place it, wont work even after 5 sec, 15 sec later (Boom).
4. Shrapnels going through barricades.
5. Make C4 Unstackable.
People act like they are afraid it will be hard / "impossible" or actually impossible to raid someones base.
If it's not really hard to break in, then what's the point in even having bases to begin with?
I thought houses were supposed to have an actual meaning in this game, not just be some way for raiders to enjoy raiding the bases of people who thought the base had some kind of use to store items and protect them.
A fake "safe zone".
It feels like raiders don't really care for having a long term base, it's much easier to raid other players bases and capture them for a while then move on to the next one.
Dropping all your loot upon death is not bad enough, now you have to start the game over once they break into your house!
Perhaps there could be an option for servers to enable / disable building destruction (by others, you still have to be able to destroy your own stuff in case of expanding or mistakes) just like there's a PvP toggle? Decay would still be present.
I'm sure there will be servers of all kinds so finding one that fit people who like base raiding should not be hard even with this option.
Myself I don't mind PvP but dislike not having a true safehouse.

Well tbh it's not that I want a safehouse that's 100% impossible to break into but it should be really hard. Tho, what I really dont like is that no matter how long it takes, if the owner is offline it's super easy to break in and steal everything.
While it would be fun defending your base while online, it sucks that your base is defenseless while you are offline.
And the "toggle building destruction" was the best way I could come up with to solve this. I would rather play on a PvP server with no building destruction than risk having my base raided while I'm offline.
