I tried Dx9. I do not know the exact FPS I had before, but it seems, that it works a tad bit better. I was on for a bit longer than an Hour and did not get my face destroyed by artifacts, yet. I will give you an update if it changes.

I set to Dx11 and it seems to be better, its not so bad that it makes the game unplayable, there are still tears here and there. Game didn't crash after 30 seconds.

I didn't play for very long, will test further tonight.

Will also download beta drivers and test.

    GFX: AMD Radeon 7850

    EDIT:

Was doing it wrong, now set it to startup with directX11 and still artifacted, tried OpenGL and it seems to work well.

I think they were talking about artifacting, not fps.

-force-d3d9 has worked for me too. Just to confirm Garry means setting it as a launch option in steam. If you right-click "rust" and click properties you'll see "set launch options".

Beta drivers did nothing, fps drop still there.
Please keep performance discussion in a different thread. This is about the terrible artifacting on AMD cards.

Hey guys.. can you try running with any of these command lines.. to see if they make a difference.

    -force-opengl (Windows only)
Make the editor use OpenGL for rendering, even if Direct3D is available. Normally Direct3D is used but OpenGL is used if Direct3D 9.0c is not available.

    -force-d3d9 (Windows only)
Make the editor use Direct3D 9 for rendering. This is the default, so normally there's no reason to pass it.

    -force-d3d11 (Windows only)
Make the editor use Direct3D 11 for rendering.
That one works for me, I've been playing for a couple of hours without any problem.

Running an HD7850 2gb not overclocked. Before when using the webclient i had to set the graphics all the way down, that stopped the artifacting. Now, since moving to Steam, I can't seem to do anything to get the artifacting to stop. Alldrivers are also up to date at this time.

Can i receive some feedback from players who run AMD cards, more accurately 7900 series.

    Card Model:
    OC or Stock:
    Problem/Bug:
    GPU Usage:

There are a couple of people streaming the massive artifacting as well as GPU 99% lock / framerate flux of 40-300fps. i myself am having this issue with duel radeon 7970's.

EDIT: this is specifically for the steam client of the game. not webplayer.

EDIT: Video of problem (by TGuigz): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9axg36PRwU

EDIT: removed: ceased as a solution.

EDIT: have not tested myself but seems to be fixing for lots of people.

go into your steam, right click game and select launch options of what ever its called. then apply above.

the force dx9 worked for my brother not sure of the card i know its an AMD chipset though

I had issues running stock 7970m crossfire cards in my laptop. I had to force crossfire in the amd catalyst control centre.

I had major issues with artifacting.

dx9 worked for me too but now my crafting menu is gone. I hit tab but only inventory comes up. Any ideas? Maybe I don't know about something?

Edit: NM I'm a dummy. Figured it out.

Run the game in windowed in a small window, it will let it run long enough to change the setting.
