Why put steams keys out on the website, then not announce it?

It's silly to expect it to be TOTALLY different. They will work on performance, it's just not the first priority right now.

They're still working on fixing OSX.
Garry didn't want it to be spread widely before it isn't fixed.

i had that same problem. just relog and it shows up.

same thing. I got my key directly from playrust website, and it said activated, but nothing shows up in my library or downloads list, and if i try to use the key again, it says i've already used that key

To be honest.. I don't think he will perma ban people (If he does decide to ban) he most likely will tempban because in all fairness the key was basicly paid for and on the other side it was leaked so...

To ban someone or even temp ban for this reason is a stupid idea. When you put up the Steam Key webpage, made it simple to guess and have it fully functional you have no right too. It's not like we got this for free and a steam key is an extra charge. We paid for this.

Alright so I've tried the client, the good news is that I'm finally able to play the game again :). But it is true that the performance boost that we all thought we would have isn't there. We were naive to believe that the low fps came from the browser. In truth, it's the game that isn't optimized yet, and maybe the engine, I don't know how good the engine truly is or if it would have any effect on frames whatsoever(I'm not a programmer rofl).
I still need to play in windowed mode(not fullscreen, like the size of it on the browser when you didn't click full window or fullscreen). That's not a huge problem for me since I really got used to it by now. I had to turn the graphics and the grass off like before so yea this is not a performance boost but just the transfer to steam. It's a big step for the game so I'm still happy about it, and I hope(even tho I don't really believe in it) the hackers issue will be fixed.
Can't wait for them to optimize the game, put way more things in the game(crafting and such) and the real anti-cheat. This game is gonna be so awsome.

im not sure if i should activate my key. i have seen the screenshot of garry confirming the steam key release but for some reason people didnt get it? its fishy if you ask me. but i am not sure if he's going to ban people for this because then he misses liek 30% of his community already.

mine says i have a duplicate key. and it also says if you lose your key you cant get another one so dont lose it. am i boned or what?

You guys could just WAIT another 24 hours until Garry greenlights it with a post on the homepage. I mean seriously, the servers will get wiped anyway. Might as well not go play only to have everything reset in another day or two.

Yeah, everyone should just wait for the announcements but I don't think he would ban people though... almost everyone that is online right now is using steam.

To be honest if I didn't have 2 accounts myself I would of waited for the announcement in fear of getting banned. So yea, just wait it's not like your missing anything, honestly other then being on steam and having a game client there is basicly no difference, you'll see. Just wait if you are unsecure about being banned, even tho I really much doubt he will ban us for his mistake, garry is easy on the ban, but he's always just, he never bans someone for doing nothing, and I doubt he will think that this is a bannable offence, but again who am I to know what he thinks rofl.

If he didn't want people using it, it wouldn't be there.

Although maybe it isn't anymore - so whatever.
Main point is game is moving to Steam - and grabbing early access to servers that are probably going to be wiped anyway probably doesn't come close to the null clipping / flying through the air / speedster/aimster hacks etc etc that have been really screwing things up.
But yeah - who knows?
