Calling dibs on this guy
Meh, I have an account with over 1,000 posts. I'm only using this one because it's my default one now since I was permabanned on my other one for making valid arguments and posting my opinions in Mass Debate. It's been unbanned now since Garry did an unban spree or some shit, but I really do not suggest posting anything here unless you're the cliche teenage tree-hugging, liberal, atheist that has to insult everyone that they disagree with proceeding by contradicting themselves when you begin to make a reasonable argument. If you fall into that category, hell, you might make Facepunch user of the year.
Edit: Also, Starpluck... Mark Wahlberg is master race.
If I bothered to play this I'm pretty sure I'd want the devs to actually add things and/or fix bugs instead of fruitlessly trying to deal with hackers.
Some of you might find this funny so lets give it s shot.
So I bought WarZ in December, about ten minutes before it got DDoS'd.
I bought Rust earlier today.![]()
Patience is the only thing us players can hold on to right now, I'm sure somewhere out there they're thinking of a way to combat hackers and fix this tedious downtime (which I'm pretty sure is being forced upon them).
Shitty luck, man. Also, is Rust being sold now? I'm confused...
Didn't you see the Dutch-style auctions they were doing?
I'm certain there's a sticky about it...
EDIT: Yeah it's the very top one entitled "Keys are now for sale"
If you're referring to RUST keys, then yeah, they've been being sold for awhile now. 5 per hour, starting at $60 at the top of the hour.
You can buy rust alpha keys, which after watching gameplay for I decided was worth $35.
I then created this forum account because it wasn't working, got banned for creating a thread, got unbanned and now I realize I can't fix it because it's a problem on their side.
Yay! *Grunt Birthday Party Sounds*
I dunno. I don't pay attention to Rust anymore since the initial hype.
Oh god, all theese people who don't know anything about making a game are screaming and whining cause they can't get to play the game.
You focus on making the game FIRST then you need to deal with the exploits.
And first of all, I've always seen Pat or Garry fix the cheats and hacks pretty fast after found out so you guys shouldn't be complaining.
That depends. The changes I suggested, for instance, are best added in right from the beginning. Otherwise you end up having to change a good deal of the game's structure and it becomes a lot harder.
quit bitchin, its in open alpha who gives a fuck have fun enjoy playing, they still have alot to do on the game before they care about the 10 year olds using cheat engine
"have fun enjoy playing" Nobody can play. You sir, are stupid and probably a ten year old who uses Cheat Engine.
I dont think its the 10 year olds ddosing the server, its some butthurt retard who prob got his wood stolen and wants to make everyone else feel their pain.
Then why did you say ten year olds using cheat engine... just out of left field? lol.
It's some guy who wants to be a fuck really.
I heard somone was holding the servers up for ransome untill they make an official post on hacking....
I just got in on some EU server for about 30 seconds, someone was talking in chat maybe they can play..?
who gives two shits this game wont make it past beta. ~~ QQ LOL OMG ALPHA
lmao dude on the first vid were dirtyghetto killed you That was me (skits) and as you can see i was getting pissed that he was hacking at 0:27 seconds i write "stop hacking faggot" lmao good thing you recorded him because he is using cheat engine to hack and i absolutly hate it! pluse he sucks at the game i was about to kill him and he would jump!
If true, that would be a hell of a hostage situation.
Hack protection really needs to be upped in the list of priorities - it makes it difficult to test, or get much of anything done, when hackers are around and growing in number. Take, for example, the new sleeper servers - I think this is a great idea, and can't wait to test it, but after a day on the sleeper server I've had two noclip hackers take everything from my base - once while I was in it, and once while I was asleep (he also killed me while I was asleep - all doors intact and shut).
Not caring about hack protection at this early Alpha phase is like not caring about your player base. This happened with War Z and lots of people stopped playing that when it was infested with hackers.
I thought people stopped playing WarZ because it was an awful knockoff of dayz that managed to be worse than it in nearly every regard?
Was nothing like Day Z. Very different. I stopped playing because of the hacks and dev treatment of the community.
QFT
We won't have this problem with Garry.
TO fix this all you need is proper community ran dedicated servers with active mods.
Anyone caught hacking? Instantly banned.
This is one of the many reasons why I can't wait for an AQ server.
Hell, if we could host right now if there are any sorts of admin tools it'd be done. You can't expect hosting companies to moderate and control a server population. It just doesn't work. Like Ideal hosting for example, they didn't even know there was a house wipe on their servers.
Hello. I just decided to step into this thread because I saw it on the main page (as the title of the thread now). Been hearing about Rust for a while but never really bothered to ask about it.
So if I'm reading this right...
Dev: Alright I'm gonna need you to check for errors whenever you can bother.
Tester: Alright. Found a few really bad ones.
Dev: Yeah they're not a priority right now. Find some more. In the meantime, I'm gonna not fix this.
I don't see why they can't just ban the hackers in that big-ass ''post your hackers and proof here'' thread. If they post videos and the time it happened, the hackers should get banned. Also, if hackers make more than one account and continue hacking, IP ban them. That is how we can get rid of a lot of hackers right now, at least.
I'm confused by this as well. If they hack now, they'll continue to do it long after release. Let's get rid of them now and set the example for the turds in the future that might think about it.
"When it comes to testing exploits, as always you should report them as soon as they are found. Do not keep them secret or hesitate to post a bug report about them if you have worries of others abusing the exploit. However if you have to use a external program, injector, utility or form of hardware manipulation to accomplish a exploit and are caught doing so; you will be banned [regardless if it was automated or manual]."
This is quoted from the Dev, PAT which was posted 26 days ago on the main home page of the RUST website. Now, Why is it that when we do what they're asking and reporting the people doing exactly what they said they would ban people for, but not acting on it? It isn't a priority? I know I didn't create the game but if I had... It would be a priority to fix this before adding more features like the sleeper test servers. How are the sleeper test servers a priority? Yeah I understand Gary wanting people to raid more often and actually be able to get loot because your body is still there when you log off, but come on...
The Games community is asking that this be fixed. We don't care about the sleeper crap or w/e is you're working on, which you hardly update us on as it is. You would think the almost half of a million dollars that has been spent on a game that's still in Alpha, would be better spent making and fixing things to make the RUST community happy. We have provided proof and given names of the people using exploits to their advantage and ruining the testing experience for others. Take one day and go through the Hacking post made and find the people and ban them for doing what YOU said you would ban them for. I'm getting pretty annoyed now after having to start over for the 6th time because people walk through my walls. We can't test your sleeper server or do anything because these people won't let us play long enough to do so. Sounds like a priority to me.
You might not be able to add any security into the game against this, but you can at least ban the people being continuously reported.
Shit, I'm all for adding new features to the game and making it more fun, but there really aren't that many people hacking and using exploits..... And most of them are on the US servers. It's not like you guys have to go all gung ho with banning people, just get rid of the few that are being named several times in the hack post. It's simple. Don't talk about banning people for doing this shit and then say it's not a priority or not even doing anything about it period. Don't talk about! Be about it!
Peace!
-snipped-
Even more so, before you even purchase from the auction page you are told, "If you're caught cheating your account will more than likely be banned - and you won't be offered a refund. So whatever you do - don't try to cheat."
So as a player you're offered that warning. But as a consumer it serves as, certainly not a guarantee, but some peace of mind that what you are buying into will be actively concerned with cheating. Whatever argument you might want to make about the game being in alpha or whatever is fine, but every single buyer had SOME assurance that cheating would not be tolerated. So for all those who claim its not important because its alpha, you're just wrong. It's an alpha that was prefaced with "Cheaters won't be tolerated".
EXACTLY!!!
I swear if someone argues against this....
So basically, who ever made the "No cheating or you'll be banned, rule" was just spewing shit from their ass. It's an offense punishable by a ban and with no refund. But eh... who cares, right? It's not on the priority list of things to consider or even attempt to fix. The longer they just let people run rampant with these shinanigans, then more and more of them are going to continue to do so without any consequences whatsoever. This exploiting in the game and garrys non existent updates about what's going on with the game are probably the communities most concerned topics. More updates, Garry. Maybe if people throw more money at you and then you'll consider being more informative... lmao
The game is pretty awesome and addicting for it being at a Flintstones stage and I'm looking forward to you guys actually getting all these problems sorted out. The community has spoken!
Just because the hackers aren't being dealt with immediately doesn't mean they haven't made the dev's "to-do" list. We may be quickly approaching one hell of a ban spree similar to how Blizzard handled D3 botters.
I know I saw a massive amount of complaint threads for the botters in D3, then one day some 3 weeks later.. my account was banned. (Yeah.. it was more entertaining watching my bot then actually playing. No regrets, I deserved it and got what was coming to me)
Just try to approach it that they might be racking up a decent listing of hackers and nuking them all out in one quick shot as a show of force. It's due up, I'd argue it's just a matter of time.
All I would like to know is what they are currently working on and what they are working towards. At least a quick update everyday would be nice... rather than leaving everyone clueless about what's going on with the game. You know what I mean? There's too much speculation and hearsay going on, but nobody really knows anything. We provide feedback about bugs and hackers and yet we get nothing back in return.
I'd like to see the hackers banned. Unfortunately, I think anyone can agree that's nothing more than a bandaid - temporary, at best.
You know damn well there are going to be more hackers in droves flocking to Rust. It's bound to happen - the more popular a game is, the more people try to cheat and hack.
What they NEED to do is not just ban hackers, but FIX the hacking. Easier said than done, but it's definitely doable. Done right, they can completely eliminate N-stepping, teleporting, noclipping, super jumping, and more.
I definitely agree with you, but I am biased because I feel I've been spoiled by the dev team from Marvel Heroes who are commenting daily in threads and being ULTRA active in the forums to qualm the wavering player feedback on whatever was recently patched in. An official response would be greatly appreciated here, but I understand that this might be a small dev team that has more pressing priorities on their hit list at the moment.
