My mic in Rust is really low is there anywhere I can turn it up?
If I talk in Skype everyone can hear me really good but not in Rust.

i'd love to just see an option to turn up voip in general, most people sound like they are soooo far away, when they are right next to me.
Normally when people talk in the game i struggle to hear what theyre saying
I like it. People moving closer and talking got louder, I could tell people were closing before seeing them. As a game aspect, most games drop the overhead of Voice Chat as Clans just connect outside.
I play out of my tv, so as you can imagine, I've got my sound coming out of that rather than my headset. I can talk to people just fine, I just can't hear people worth a damn. It was the same way on DayZ for me.
Same problem here. In ventrilo and skype people can hear me perfect, but in Rust they can't even hear me if I scream in my mic just next to them.
I have the same problem on my speakers even if they are up full blast but when I make all sound play out of my headset I can hear everyone fine.
Bump to topic. More options to adjust such things as VoIP is vital! Good post
I think the problem lies in their coding for the distance related volume adjustments. I've played on a couple of servers which have disabled that and the mic volume is fine, you can talk to anybody you can see in range of you and they hear you clear as day.
The voip system is pretty new to the game though, so it's clearly still needing some tweaks.
Although I came into this thread completely agreeing with OP, this is a very good point. You can tell distance by the volume of their voices.
Having the same problem, kind of frustrating.
Extremely frustrating. I essentially have to eat my mic to be able to be heard in game.
All other games and VOIP programs work fine.

Most people in game don't have their mic volume up... not a Rust problem.
It would be nice to have the option of turning up the mic level. i also wouldnt mind having an option to turn down the volume of the Geiger Counter lol it gets annoying after a while and makes it harder to hear people when your looting a town
The mic problems are that your mic isnt the default microphone in your windows settings, changed it to default, now everyone can hear me.
Another audio suggestion is to turn down the wind.. or actually make it sound like wind and not just a lot of static that gets annoying after a while..
People can hear me just fine but I can't hear them very well at all. I can turn up the volume but their voices are just drowned out by the rest of the game noises. Does anyone know a solution for this?
Same here
Using a Logitech G930 headset. Its very rare someone can hear me loudly. All mic settings turned to max. Everyone has to stand on my nuts to hear anything I said.
I've been tweaking with this non-stop. My set-up - my PC's onboard audio (Asus Mobo - quality sound package, etc.) is feeding out to a Sony multi-channel receiver (optical), and the sound is coming out of two Sony bookshelf speakers. The speakers are like 15 years old, but they are by far the best sounding bookshelf speakers I have ever owned and I will never get rid of them.
Anyway, I have my mic settings configured correctly. Here's what I did;
Firstly, make sure you have your mic configured correctly. You can go in to "Sound" (Windows) and tweak the mic levels. You want your levels to be just below clipping level when you are talking normally. Once you have it congifured on your actual PC, I went and than configured for TS. I'm not having any issues being heard in TS or Rust. Many other players I come across, even when standing right in front of them, I cannot hear them.
Bottom line - everyone needs to manually configure their mic settings. Plug-n-play doesn't seem to work. Go config your mic so I can hear you telling me not to bash your head in with a rock.
That's what I use, people usually don't have a hard time hearing me but I something have a hard time hearing them and when people are running, I can hear gunshots, chopping, and everything else, but people can just sneak up on me and I won't know till I turn around.
Yes, I think this is what often happens. The laptop mic or their webcam mic are set to default, so yelling into the headset mic does nothing.
i agree.
this needs to be one of the priorities for the next update.
its really awkward yelling these things all day:
"LOOK, THERE'S A NAKED GUY"
"SHOOT THE NAKED GUY"
"DROP THE WEAPON OR I WILL KILL YOU"
"WHO IS THE NAKED GUY AT THE ROCK?"
"LETS RAPE THE NAKED GUY"
"IAM GETTING CHASED BY TWO NAKED GUYS"
i don't want to know what my neighbours are thinking of me.
Yeah I have the same problem. My volume is good on everything else but even when standing right next to a person I have a hard time hearing what the person is saying. I think it does have something to do with how the user has their mic setup as some users are better then others. However it would be nice if there was a mic volume option in the game that you could crank up so you could still hear foot steps and the other sounds but hear what people are saying.
Currently when I want to hear what most people are saying I have to turn up my game volume so high when I have to shoot something everyone in the house can hear i'm in a gun fight.
Same, I have configured my mic properly in windows and in steam. The problem I have is hearing in game voices without standing still and turning up my rust volume.
I can't harvest anything while listening to people because the hit noise is way to loud!!
If they added another volume slider for just VoIP that would be great.
I have no idea if anyone is even in this thread still but I consistently get this issue. Using Logitech G230s and people tell me that I sound too low. I have no idea how to fix this as I have my mic volume turned up in Windows and in Steam. We could use a VoIP slider.
Here is how I HAVE to communicate with others using voice chat:
Normal talk (Skype etc) - they are unable to hear me, too quiet.
Talk a bit louder - slightly hear me.
Move microphone closer and shout a little louder - They can hear me.. What's the problem? People half way across the map can hear me too.
I think if you're standing right next to a player, face to face, their mic should be at a volume that sounds like they are next to me. As they walk away, drown it out however you wish over whatever distance. But if I'm face to face, I should hear you as if you're face to face, not as if you're 25 yards away.
