I see from some older YouTube videos of Rust gameplay that there use to be a "Take All" button for loot. What happened to this and why was it removed? I think that it is a fantastic idea to have it in the game.
Yes
No

Too easy to obtain items when raiding, it's useful on a raiding server so that the raidee can attack the raider and have a chance against it, you know?
It's stupid and annoying though when there's nobody around. The least they could do is make it like Minecraft where it instantly goes into your inventory when you shiftclick it.
Yea to easy to raid... Its more intense when you go into someones base and you have to get all of it before they return. It'd be retarded if you just go in kill 1 guy take all and leave. No fun, not intense whatsoevar
Oh, that's a good point. I really did not think of that lol. Honestly though, if you are raiding somebody, chances are that they won't have a chance to get their stuff back anyway if you have more then one person with you while you are raiding.
I like the idea of having a loot all button, it does save time when standing in a radiation area trying to get the stuff and get out
You just have to be quick, eat anti-rad pills, or have the rad suits. :D
It's real easy to be quick with radiation but sometimes it just goes to quick and you would need rad pills
Take All will never be added back, according to Helk.
Well it shouldnt come back so cheers to helk
I personally don't think it should be re-implemented, Nothing like the feeling of shooting someone loaded and picking up all their gear piece by piece knowing that your completely exposed and out in the open.
Just the pure suspense attracts me, rather than "Take all" and leg it.
I actually still do this by instinct when I play Rust. :c
I don't think it should be back, but I think they should implement some kind of system that makes it easier to collect shit while still having a disadvantage of using the system.
For example, instead of just taking all the shit in one second, you could hold a specific key, and click the items to have them automatically transfer to your inventory (Like in minecraft with shift) but rather than having the items stack instantly with the same ones in your inventory, the looted items would be scattered around your inventory so you have to stack them manually later.
Nah I don't think it should be added back. Having to drag and drop items makes it more interesting then just running by pressing a button and collecting everything. Darkfall has the same looting mechanic , makes looting in battle risky which makes the game more challenging.
the "take all" button will remove alot of "value" each player had for items, this drag and drop is a barrier that adds a certain feel for the stuff you loot that you are really vulnerable while optaining stuff.
please dont implement this button in future patches.
I agree, the take all button was a bit of an advantage. Im hoping you would be able to turn it on or off once server hosting takes place. They sure also add the button to the NoPvP server though.
I'd LOVE to have it back. when youre solo, 1v3 you kill a guy, run out of ammo and have to run to his body and stay in there vulnerable looking for ammo. instead you can just click all, take, and run. We want it back!!!
Well atleast I actually belive that the Take all buttom shouls be added to pve, since sometimes zombies guard your cropse and you have no chance to get the gear before it disappear.
No, it's too easy and too unrealistic.
People will store all their valuable stuff in one large crate, and when they hear charges they just press "Take all" and disconnect before the door gets blown up
What about allowing us to right click and take the items? I don't know if you can already, but I've been dragging and dropping items since I started.
The take all buttom is needed for pve, it was removed because of the pvp. get facts
What if there was a "take all" button for bags that players drop when they die, since you can just pick up the bag and move on, but with the crates and barrels you have to pick them one by one
The deletion of Take all button made the game so much better. People just picking all their stuff from their crates ( Inventory had more space back then ) and combatlogging with all their shit. Also people would go against a group 10 alone, kill one, take all and run away as a winner.
I agree that shift clicking should be enabled. Loot all should be an option on NPC corpses.
Disagree... i prefer a destroy button, so this way i can destroy the loot that i dont want for me ... like blueprints that i already have, foods, waters, etc...
Devs want it to be a struggle and an effort to loot your packs,
according to them they might implement a code lock for the pack.
I like the idea of destroy button, but then you need to have that item on you
and you need to be in-range to set it off.
For sure, you need to drag the item to your invetory and then drag it again to the destroy button...
I never understand people who say "This is not realistic"
Are zombies realistic ? Taking wood from trees with a rock ? Respawning after death ? etc.
It's just a game design choice, so looting a takes more time and makes you vulnerable for a longer time
I would like to see a take all feature tbh.
Here's a solution for you.
Add the "take all" button. But make it have a timer depending on how much shit is there.
It get's trivial and boring dragging and dropping, this feature would remove the boring part but keep the suspense for being exposed.
/Edit.
Actually... when you click take all it should slowly loot one item at a time just starting from the top. Then you won't "loose it all" if you start running in the middle of looting.
I don't want the take all button. I would rather have more realistic looting, i wouldn't want someone to kill me press E on my bag then press "take all" and just run. If im killed outside my house the person will take time to loot me and while they do that i can respawn and run back outside and shoot them.
Take all would be way too unbalanced and make it too easy to just clean sweep bases/bodies.
It should work similar to other games where Shift click or Right Mouse click will move the item to your inventory instantly (dragging + some lag in the GUI tends to cause a lot of problems IMO).
You should still have to go item by item and prioritize what you loot first.
Besides, even if there was a "loot all" button, it would end up taking the rocks / torches and other bullshit and filling your inventory with crap first most times where you'd have to drop half the loot anyways.
Just make looting involve something besides dragging to a slot and it'll help exponentially without unbalancing the game.
I can see how it would be a little unbalanced, but that shift click thing you guys are talking about seems pretty fair.
In my opinion if the rust servers Arent owned by garry when the full game is releaced
It should be an option for the server owner
Learn to Drag n drop faster
I can see someone frantically picking up and throwing items in their pack, not caring for organization when holding the shift key. Inventory will be a clutter and nothing is auto-stacked with this feature, but it is a quick grab and go. Each item must still be clicked to put in your back, so its not a simple "win" button, but it is faster than manual dragging.
Dragging the items manually increases organization and helps with space and clutter.
Being able to destroy items with a button is a no. If you want to destroy something, it takes effort. Throw the item on the ground and beat it a few times with a pickaxe if you really want it dead. A destroy button leads to just plain darn griefing, etc. Perhaps an alternate button to throw things on the ground instead of in your pack like ctrl or alt.
i agree the way it is now adds more excitement/risk. BUT, what would be an even better compromise would be to allow different backpacks to be equipped and traded. this way if someone has better stuff on him you can quickly trade packs, then pick out the individual items you still want. this would make it better for us new player underdogs, to be able to quickly swap inventories and have a fighting chance at fending off the wolf pack. then to have the backpack as a craftable item would be awesome. bigger packs at the cost of movement speed, or even to ditch a pack to gain some speed and hopefully distract your pursuer
Don't add it back!
