Many gold members spent money for gold.
Also I got a key for free aswell.
i didnt pay shit
Said many.
I used one of the 000 keys, and I forgot the password to my account.
However I reset it when they added the password reset.
I spent $0 and one minute of registration
Because it was open beta and all
i see people paying around 200 bucks and im like
LUL I gut it 4 free :3
The question is, why do you assume everyone heard about this game back in January? Or possibly earlier?
I didn't even hear about rust, until escapistmagazine put down that errant article about this game and free beta keys! /uggh
Oh well, EQN comes out this winter. So i'll just have to play that since its easier to get in. :P
I spent 1-3 hours for my key and I spent 0$. I drew a picture!
I had like 40 keys and gave them away for doodles and still haven't played
it's amazing to see how fast people will hop at higher prices with the Dutch auction, I hope nobody gets buyer's remorse after having played considering it's in alpha, nor when the price of the final release comes out and you wish you'd waited to buy it anyways. Clearly it holds value enough to buy already, so kudos to those who got in early for cheap/free
do you know not what evil you just set upon yourself
it's bannable to harass mods for keys directly anyways :)
Stop crying over the price, you can't get everything free guys.
Free HUGS :D
It's an obvious troll/spammer.
i want some of that ability right now

Well I'm going to attempt to get a key at $1. I left the page open and it kept rolling down past $30 with 95/100 keys left. I refreshed the page under a new tab and it showed "0/100 keys left" but the total keys sold wasn't any different. So I can confirm that it's "suppose" to reset at $30US (very sneaky Mr Gary).
For some reason mine didn't reset when it hit $30 and is still ticking down. So I'm going to try and get one of these keys for under a buck. If I can pick up more than one (heck I'll pick up 10 if I can for under $1 and either give them away or resell them if I'm allowed), I'll do it.
Wish me luck!
P.S. If this violates a forum rule, please let me know and I'll remove the pics ASAP. Thanks.
So far as I can tell there is no ability to buy a key right now.
don't waste your time. or waste your time
maybe you should try reading the text on the background of where you took that 2nd image before jumping to conclusions lol
Edited:
"Sorry guys. Due to a bug we sold way too many keys than we were ready to sell. So we're not selling any more just yet.
Keep an eye on our twitter, we'll let you know when we are back!"
I just want people to know that the way I posted the first post in this thread has a lot of sarcasm in it, if you can't tell: I am sorry I trolled you. If you can tell: just laugh cause I did a lot.
More like little kids getting their parents to buy a key for them and to rage quit an Hour Later.
Look at the "keys sold" just under the "Rust Alpha Key" and you'll see they're both "609". However, the "remaining" keys in the first are "95" while the refreshed paged is "0".
I still have the unrefreshed page up and the price ticking downwards. Besides, that entire thing is just a webscript that's running. So if the webscript is bugged, it doesn't mean I can't actually get a key. Especially if (and this is probably how Gary made it) the script just spits out a link based on the price and number of keys "left". It's suppose to stay refreshed/updated so that "keys left" stays updated. However, if you can get the "refresh" to stop, you can keep script which does the count down, running, without having the "remaining" change.
I could be wrong but Mr Gary seems to like simpler methods over more complex ones. And because the countdown price now shows just under $21US for me, I'm guessing my thesis on the script is correct. I'll get back in two hours to you guys and let you know if I was correct or not. If I am, beating the auction is super easy.
stop being paranoid and READ the text on the page already lol
"Sorry guys. Due to a bug we sold way too many keys than we were ready to sell. So we're not selling any more just yet.

they disabled selling keys, hence it reverted to 0 keys when you refreshed. You can see that message on that 2nd pic you posted there. They just never meant to sell so many keys is all.
I realize there is a bug in the script, and that's why there are twice as many sold as they should. However, the script just spits out a link to a Paypal page. So if you already have the script up, it should still be able to generate the link to the Paypal page, even if Gary changes the auction page now (because the script generates the link, not the web server).
Then if I submit the order through Paypal, he will probably honor the sale (even if he doesn't give me a key right now).
The 'item' is not for sale regardless of the bugged purchasing app. when you click it you'll most likely get a 404 or an item not currently for sale message
What? My point was garry isn't tricking people over the price, he just turned off the sale. And no, keeping the page open isn't going to get you a key lol. The auction is over.
I was one of the people that used the magic key months ago... I played it daily for at least two weeks. Then I decided I would take a break, come back in a few months, log back on and see where the game was then.
Didn't count on them deleting inactive accounts... oh well.
I am extremely eager to be an alpha tester, and I didn't spend $40 on it. I was holding out for $10, but it never happened.
they were going to be all out by 10$ anyway but was waiting too![]()
they are kids, they are going to say everything collectively to get any response
damm curious enthusiastic wee shites getting the better of you
Excuse me but most people that actually care about playing the game and want to make the best of the beginning of the game buy the game for 40$ because who knows how much its going to be on steam and i would definetly pay 40$ for this game its awesome
Got mine when it was free and I've only played once. Rust just doesn't interest me and I'd probably sell my account if I got the chance.
cool
those people are being stupid with their money and that probably shows they aren't very good at making decisions
yeah its their choice
but they're still stupid
especially the ones that bought rust accounts and got scammed, even though it was obvious
like how do you seriously not see through that bullshit, and how do you pay $60+ instead of just waiting a small amount of time?
I got mine for 63$, to then find out my computer can't even run it.
I regret nothing.
That's extremely idiotic.
I hope you cry yourself to sleep.
Garry is genius
Why dosnt anyone just bot it with http headers or even use OCR if need be???
I remember when catchoftheday had a dutch auction.....
They had the product codes increment so all one needed to do was increment the codes in header in a basic request in a python script to score the product cheap.
Even if a exploit couldn't be found in the request then one could simply use Sikuli IDE or a OCR tool similar to scrape the details required and bot the purchase 0_o

Edit : Only 3$ more than what Call of Duty : Ghosts will be. Also I have been looking for this kind of game since I was eight, literally. At least I didn't buy it for 93$, cus like 10 people did. And you are also getting the full release. Still, I regret absolutely nothing. Please love me
Edit : I do don't judge me
Rust Alpha Key
609 sold, total $27,619.30
Seriously?! Pretty funny though, people paying that kind of money for a game that isnt even finalized yet. Its possible you dont even like the end content
call of duty ghosts wont run on your pc either
