My fav song.

Far cry 3 music Seems to fit pretty well to me.
Thats another game's music.
He's just using it as an example I assume, sorta like a music style to follow.
damn i skiped over your post TCB sorry, anyways did you make this and IT IS AWESOME stuff like this is prob what they are looking for.
I think Rust needs music that gives a sense of unease, creepy. It'd be cool if there were some event-based triggered music, kinda how HL2 does it, but it'd be kinda hard to pull that off seamlessly considering this is multi-player.
I believe spooky ambient tones would probably work the best to set the mood without being too distracting/annoying. Percussion is probably out of the question.
I agree and disagree. I just wish garry would look at this thread and say what kind of music he is looking for.
Jesus, I'm dying. Is this a joke?
Edited:
Oh shit, I didn't read it
I made this with rust in mind.
I'm working on an entire EP inspired by rust:

Mhmm, For example, Warz/Infestation: Survivor Stories which is another survival game has great soundtracks to it in my opinion, the eerie ambience is nice for zombie survival type of games puts you on edge more than any other type of music.
Nice tune, that's kinda the feel I had in mind. My only critique is that flute? seems a bit out of place, maybe too loud? I'm not listening on my studio headphones so it might just be these crappy headphones I'm using right now.
Here's something I was fiddling with the other day.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...st_ambient.mp3
I was trying to focus on the low mid-range but there's some parts that could use a little "sparkle." Again don't have my studio headphones available so the levels are probably wonky.
They should make a radio station type fell like fallout 3
They should use some of this.
i made it for my source mod but this thread made me think of this song and i think it sounds like it'd fit rust. i mean there's that ambient album but a soundtrack shouldn't only be ambient tracks, i think there should be more song-songs (not to offend zethereal or anything, i just mean a song that isn't just ambiance and piano)
Lol in the middle of the song it sounds like snoop lion's song (or when he made the song he was called snoop dog) and also do you have anymore like this that you want to post or can you make some more cause i think the should use some of your songs.
<
it's based on nuthin but a g thang (heres a remake i made of it). i guess if people wanted to hear that stuff in rust i'd be happy to make more.
Please make more. i'll be happy to listen to what you make and i'm sure lots of other people would too.
Edited:
and also you can't offend zethereal cause he's permabanned for some reason so he prob can't see this.
i just made this, it doesn't sound as rust-y as the other one

i couldn't change any levels or anything because fls started fucking up towards the end
I am, I know it would not be put In for Legal Issues.
Zethereal was my alt, no offense taken from TCB though
In fact, I agree. Have some ambient but maybe shift into some more rock/metal instrumentals during a fight or something.
Such a beautiful song
Good sir. Your dream has come true.

i like games where there is both ambience to build the suspense and set the mood (your music) and then for things like the menu, fight music (if they make a system where fighting an enemy makes music play) and other things to make the player feel more immersed and motivated there should be actual songs (you know what i mean). something dynamic would be great, lots of people care about the soundtracks to games.
Wtf do you make music for arcade games this is fucking awesome!!!!!!!
Just a tip, try not to use stock FL samples and VSTs. If you do use the stock VSTs try not to use any of the presets.
the only stock fl sound i'm using is sytrus' default setting, and that's just a basic electric whistle sound that is found in a bunch of other vsts
What are you using for the piano? Piano sounds like FL Piano.
it's fl keys yeah, but it sounds a lot like my keyboard so i didn't really think to change it
Yeah, sorry I wasn't trying to be a dick, I've been doing tunes for so damn long that those sort of things immediately stick out to me.
I'd recommend running that piano through some filters, maybe even a delay bank. The really big problem with the stock VSTs and presets is they tend to sound very generic and flat, which is fine for a starting point, but you really have to do some processing on them to get them to sound good.
Most of the music I make wouldn't really fit with Rust so this is quite a learning experience for me too.
Some examples of my work:
Caipirinha
Untitled
Layering helps a lot.
i didn't have a chance to finalize all the mastering because towards the end the sound started skipping because an issue with a vst, i can't really change it now because when i open the project that particular vst (and like 4 clones of it) is reset to it's default sound, and it makes up most of the song.
You mean the preset doesn't save? Can you not save the presets at all?
Here's a Rust'esque clip I just made
Untitled 2
I play with this Russian guy, I asked him what the hell it was all about and he said it was about Russian soldiers getting orders and stuff. Best explanation ever! I guess its better than a zombie being nearby :p
I personally love the existing music. It's a huge part of my attraction to this game.
Pretty sure they are leaving the music as ambience. (I would suggest using some stuff from Aphex Twin which I am a huge fan of, but like someone said above, there's copyright issues there.)
One of the tracks ingame actually reminds me of a certain part in full metal jacket, a ambient music track.
heavy metal is the kind of music i want to hear while am surviving HARDCORE MODE!!
