so being as cool as i am, kids tend to come for me and fail.
sadly. ive butthurt two players (rama and stalker) so they've decided to exploit and or hack. they are even more mad i took 4 guys and rolled thru thier base and so they came back over night and repeated the same thing.
N-step, when you disconnect your connection briefly to complete tasks in which arrive when re connected.
1. when they would teleport tree to tree, unconnect behind 1, pop out, kill a target, get behind a new one, and reconnect.
(this appears as a frozen player then (thousands of hatchets) or (one loud shot) to the people around
2. cheat engine
(easy install, not 100% sure if its these two but during the day people would appear up beside me on my tower then fly across to mountain when i hit them. (cant confirm any names for this)
either way, the cheating in this game is a little to extreme now. sadly as one of the top killers, this means ive got lots of children whom dont consider this a game and leak sadness from there happyplace :( either way, grats to those involved in breaking the game and using such exploits to your advantage to get me :)
thus are the risks and problems we must deal with as top players. cant wait for next update :)

This game is in early alpha, the goal for our dev's is not making it an enjoyable game for us right now, its not to deal with player made problems yet, its to make the game work as intended and have the features they implement troubleshot so its ready for beta, dealing with hackers and such is a lategame thing.

Allow me to take you through it step by step, the easy way.
Find a safe place in rust, top of tower for instance.
1. Open Network Connections
2. Disable the connection that has your internet
3. Exit your safe spot, hit/shoot anyone you see (they will be frozen and cannot defend them self).
4. Enable your connection
5. You will teleport to your new location
6. Watch as all your hits go through regardless of your or their location.
On their screen you will have been standing inside your safe spot not doing anything the entire time. So next time you see someone and cry 'speed hack' or 'aimbot' there is a far likelier chance they are just doing this.

Quoted for posterity. The best way to get a exploit fixed is NOT to tell the developers since, if it isn't wide spread it won't be a priority. This is the most effective way to get it resolved sooner rather than later.
Or nothing will happen, it's rust after all. A big enigma ruining facepunch.

I suppose you are right Parrot, I should do what you and your friends do. Not tell anyone, and use it as an advantage in beating other players near you. Pass. It has already been reported, the more press it gets the faster it gets fixed.
I'd much rather beat people on a even playing field.

I never accused you of using nstepping. I accused you of cheating. In your case you reported the glitch and then continued to use it against other players to your benefit. All of this you openly admit.
Case 1:
Player A uses nstepping to achieve an advantage over player B.
Player B dies and loses in game worth to player A due to the disadvantage.
Case 2:
Player A uses a "glitch" to achieve an advantage over player B.
Player B dies and loses in game worth to player A due to the disadvantage.
I see no difference. Cheater, exploiter, glitch user, hacker... all result in the same effect on the player base.
For reference I used nstepping once, today, immediately after discovering it to test it. I then reported it and now have no intention to play until it is fixed as it is too large of a exploit to play during. I like this game too much to play in a compromised state.

You "tested" the glitch in an effort to take us out before you even reported it. We reported the other glitch before we ever used it and made sure it was known. NStepping isn't a glitch, it's essentially using cheat engine to speed up your game, I see no difference. Climbing into your base because you leave your roof open isn't a cheat/glitch/exploit or whatever you want to call it. We can rest happy because you forcefully disconnecting yourself from the game and reconnecting will cause you to be flagged, I really suggest you don't keep using your newfound exploit,

most people dont expect people to get 10+ stories without building up. exploiting to get in then taking resources to build in the next day and get thru 4 doors. but hey, grats bro :) must be hard getting carried by a team of exploiters.

dorner your mad because i owned you and then you bitched ingame. i made a thread about a group of cheaters and publicly posted the exploit being used. how is this anything about me? please regard what you say because aside from being bad at a game, having a short temper, being easy to troll, and trying to take any shot at me you can ingame and on the forum, you really.. really just make yourself look more and more retarded.

it may not be client sided, it may just be server sided but your client still take data and stocks it while frozen.
so when you DC you can still generate data which as soon as you reconnect is sent to the server in 1 big boom. then you hear 50x hatchets at once or 30 shots in 1.
either way helk is aware and its being taken care of. as for the people who abused it, they are switching their story from "we dont cheat" to "we test the game" aka returning 4x to "test" and make sure the exploit works xD
fix will be here soon.

I think it's probably the game giving you the benefit of the doubt, which definitely shouldn't be the case for a twitch based game - it's a little too generous.
I've experienced 2 things to testify to this:
1) if my Internet craps out for some reason, TS dies, loading web pages die, but Rust lives on. It can be disconnected for a minute, and I'll fix it, reconnect to TS etc, and Rust chat will start appearing again.
2) Was running back to my house, noticed no structures were appearing at our village. Got a lag spike and bam - all the buildings appeared, and I was IN one of them.

I was about to compile an answer on the difference between in-game mechanics and third-party tools but your posts are just too much for me to take. Every single one of your sentences, words, letters oozes out stupidity like nothing I've seen before. All of your assertions about our method are so far from the truth it's laughable. Oh, how much you would wish to know what game mechanic we utilized to get on top of your tower. How much you would love to abuse it to infinity. Well, that's not going to happen. It's going to be fixed swiftly and silently, just like it should.
See the difference between you and us is that we don't go around and post exploits and hacks publicly just to suit our own needs. We report them through the right channels. We get them fixed for the sake of the game's development.
Oh, and please don't take pride in what you think you discovered and so eagerly posted here. It's a known issue and if you had checked the actual bugtracker and bug thread you would have been aware of the fact that it has been taken care of. Don't believe me? Please just keep using it with you and your friends.
I've written too much already. You've obviously got a lot of time to waste. I do not. So this will be my last post on the matter. I am sure you will keep on posting. Be aware, though, that with every single word you utter you just dig the hole around you deeper.

I'm sure when any devs fix up the Netcode this will be fine, if me assuming things is right, let me add this: just like how people can modify their speed because it's client-side, the reason why n-stepping works is because the client detects these hits/movements after the disconnect, and when you reconnect it sends these registered hits/movements to the server and the other player recieves them. I'm probably just stating the obvious, but this should be fixed when they make things like this server-side. Please correct me if anything is wrong.

now that last one, that last one is why im mad. you didnt "test" it. you came to my base. you used it, you ran with 2 full inv's of loot, you came back, did it again and died to me. then you left. then you came back a 3rd time and relized 2 of us were camping the tower. so you left again. then you came back during the night when we were all gone and towered in legit knowing there were only 4 doors via roof compared to the 30 via floor.
you abused it. thats why people look at you and think, damn thats fucking sad. notice i dont log out with my loot? ever? because if someone can break in and take it all, they've earned it. the fun of the game is gathering not protecting. now you broke that. you exploited to gain access the first 2x and used max inv's of supplies to get back. getting raided is fun, Dieing is fun because if you had no challenge and killed everyone it would be boring. Losing via exploits. thats what sucks, thats why im mad. and then you have the balls to go and boast about it. you deny cheating then once you get called out you say you were testing it. Kid, really....

i spoke with xwarrior. he hopefully passed on our chat in team speak as i let him question me about how you think i hack. we solved that. he let me know about your exploits and fixed my view on what i thought was a speedhack when really it was an old trick (i know as N-stepping) which you used to teleport around.
stay mad :) because when its fixed, and you have no free2win advantage. guess who will still be the guy who "aimbots" :)

I'm glad you guys are really helping the community by telling everyone how to exploit the game, good going lads. While your at it why don't you make a detailed video of the exact steps you go through, to help the slow kids in the bunch?
I've also noticed that laziestnoob is 2nd in the most murders of Rust with 1100 kills. Just a thought that he might be exploiting as well, just that when someone did it to him, he got all bitchy.

reading is a gift my friend :) it started with speedhackers in which teleporting around looked a hell of a lot like speed hacking. turns out i was wrong in which case it was just N-stepping. i corrected myself when i learned that via one of their team members explaining what exploits they abused. "get your fucking story straight" ill work on that once you make a legit claim friend :)

when the entire community knows about it and all the wannabe's abuse it, it gets fixed rather quick

1. Xwarrior has told me exactly what cheats you did and didnt use
2. we have submited recording of N stepping via rama and stalker to escape the base after using your "secret" exploit to climb any vertical wall
3. nothing is being assumed and a "poorly" constructed base in which it costs more to enter than the loot inside unless you exploit and can bypass the entire build ;) logic right? a tower than doesnt need climbing? :O
i can keep shitting on these pathetic attempts at crying just as i shit on 99.9% players ingame according to the leaderboard as our friend mentioned. OR you can sit down, accept that your not a small group that exploits alone anymore, and continue bitching in game chat about the speedhackers around your base :(
good game :) feel free to bring up any legit conserns and finally, if you decide to make more statements about this topic. atleast talk to your team about what they have and havent make public info. its really sad when you deny exploiting while another explains its step by step.

this is irrelavent to the thread but might as well answer, 10 story house with a 2nd tower to get to roof, requires opening to get up, protected by 3 metal doors. your 2 boys first gained access to my roof without going up my path or making thier own, they exploited the game to get up, (testing it?) and then they did it again, and got in when i opened door because i didnt know anyone was up there... there was no way to get up there. so they get 2 full inv's of my loot and leave, then come back and do it a 3rd time where this time i kill and protect my stuff..
then you guys come back at night when we are gone and raid the base with stairs and charges legit. after knowing there was less doors via the top using resources gained via exploiting. so yes, i didnt have a roof. any further questions? try to stay on topic to the thread or atleast stop crying you no longer have a private exploit. play the game legit and dont cry

I'd request a lock since this thread has turned into a flamewar, mainly because he is accusing our group based off of no evidence.
Also, Laziest, if you think you "destroyed every attempt" you are wrong. The reasoning behind our "no trail left behind" is because we used destructible objects to get in, then destroyed them. Let that be a hint, instead of you accusing us of cheating.
