I'm trying to figure out why a zillion people flooded to this forum as soon as Garry started handing out keys. So, why do you want to play Rust? How did you find out about it?

Streamers play it, i find the way they play and build their houses wrong. It fustrates me. Simple as that. Every time i join a rust stream i just FailFish all the time.
I was just watching summit vod today, and he was getting "raided" by 1 guy doing the alt+f4 macro, he build a ramp outside summit house, which lead him to the 2nd floor, and he stood there hitting the wall with a hatchet and breaking it. Summit wasnt even enable to realize that all he had to do, was break the ramp and put a pillar in the middle of the foundation.
    What i do? Facepalm

I discovered it via Uberhaxornova and ImmortalHD. It looks amazing for a game in alpha, I'm really wondering how official release will be in comparison to now.

    Solid concept with potential.

Wanted to actually participate in the alpha, more than just playing the game, which is woefully far from complete.

I saw some streamers play it and it looked interesting. Not only can you build you can pvp and take other peoples stuff by breaking in their building and looting it or by killing them. The reason I'm interested is not only to play a new game but to play a game still in development. Games in development are fun to play because there are memories to be made and new friends to meet and stay with or new enemies to form an alliance or group against. Also I don't go around looking for glitches or bugs but in a game in development there's bound to be glitches/bugs that the creator overlooked, and when I find it I can report it. So I can feel like I am contributing to a what can be an awesome game. If by the only way I can play this game is for waiting till I can legit buy it then I guess I have to wait and try to push my impatience aside, but I would rather get a key and be apart of a game in progress.

I'm interested in Rust for the combat, the ability to control your outcome, the dedication needed and required, and the amazing graphics and community. Being able to craft up weapons, building houses, and controlling your outcome is what REALLY interests me. Everything that is to come, to the current. The survival aspect and everything REALLY gets you in the game. From watching streamers play, you can see that hey get into it SO much, and I thrive for that realism.

For me, this game looks to be very unique in many ways.. it's a very basic sandboxie game, which will only improve - but it looks to be alot of fun, and i would love to try out the whole crafting aspect of the game, etc...

it's always alot more fun to learn a game, than being stale with no progression at all - new games ftw :)

The game is just 10\10 for an alpha all scripts are realy well done and the game mecanics are just epic so basicly u have to survive make your house while playing against other players hungry radioactivity and zombies, u also have to craft your stuff in order to protect your self.
how can get better then this ? game is just epic

I play it because it's an interesting concept. But Helk and Pat have a lot of work to do, because right now the game is mostly a pile of shit that still has a lot of balancing left to do. But I know that it is an alpha and that's expected, that's why I'm testing it. I usually only find myself able to play for 30 minutes to an hour though, mainly due to KoS'ers. I feel like a "name over head followed be pvp and pve" statistic would be helpful right now.

I just generally like the idea of the game, I've played it a bit and found it enjoyable and I just like what it is even though I hate the fear that someone will kill me, but it has a lot of room for improvement and I think Pat and Helk (and anybody else who is doing it) are doing a good job so far. But for now I guess I'm gonna have to put the game on the shelf (metaphorically) and wait until it's at least in the beta since it'll probably be quite a lot different.

Well I LOVE sandbox games. I play warz - aka infestation: survival stories but what I feel it lacked was the ability to built and defend a fort or a "base". Rust is a unique game and I love the freedom players have. and to be able to build a base from scratch or overtake somebody else's base is pure epicness. I play loads of Minecraft but THIS is the next level. it has loads of potential and it will keep people busy for hours and also worrying about your base getting griefed will keep players playing all the time.

I just cant wait till I get my hands on a copy of the key. Hoping the release comes out soon so that I can buy this game. Garry's gonna be richer than ever before. I've never seen people flocking and doing ANYTHING to get a copy of a game. I saw somebody willing to pay $300 for a key. That's just insane

Anybody in the mood to be giving keys please pm me :P

Its got an amazing blend between the feel of DayZ (PvP, large world) and the building of Garry's mod(not Minecraft, because Minecraft is completely different). Other reasons i would love to play this game: 1.DayZ was pretty fun as long as you were in the hype of killing and getting killed(similar to rust). 2. User created buildings are awesome, especially to see what other people can make. 3. Alphas(and Betas) are cool because you can help the developers find and smash those pesky little bugs, and to help suggest 'logical' ideas

The fact that it's Minecraft + DayZ blows my mind. You have the ability to build houses, survive and just plain out kill people. The thought that when this releases it will have 20k+ players is insane! Only one release. Garry has this game in the bag like he had Garrys Mod. This game keeps you on the edge even when you log out. Garry is just teasing us. Hitting us with tremendous amount of gameplay and we don't get to play! Anyway this game is unique in its own way. That is what makes me interested in it.

Featurewise, I like the building concept. It's something never really incorporated into such a scenario so elegantly. Put crafting, zombies and hostile players into the mix and you have a pretty unique game already, and that's just a closed alpha!
