    When people build there first home in the game they build the wood shelter. Then they build a bigger house and leave the wood shelter. The wood shelter just stays there. I think all of these useless empty wood shelters should de spawn (it is a very bad home so it could maybe have a chance of collapsing). If a wood SHELTER is unoccupied for 5 (Real time) days it gets destroyed. It should only take that long to build a real house out of foundations and pillars and walls. OR as time goes on the wood shelter gets weaker and weaker (less hits with a hatchet) until it just collapses. Rain could majorly effect it.

    By the way you wrote this post, I thought it was going to be slightly embarrassing. But, its honestly not a bad idea. I will get pretty annoying when there are just 500 little shacks everywhere. They definitely need to do something to get rid of them.

    They should implement a weather system that contains storms and stuff so the shelters will be blown to pieces and leave wood piles.

    Edit: Or maybe even better, make it leave small piles of 'broken' wood which can only be used in campfires.

    Yeah, I strongly agree with what you are saying. Especially with the removal of un-occupied shacks/buildings for a set period of time. This in turn will make the game run at a more efficient level with less items to remember.

    As with the elements effecting the quality of your house (i'm stitting on the fence) but perhaps applorsable in the future. It's the ideas that count thanks for sharing.

    Oh I agree, it would help prevent Map Wipes occurring more often its just adding more to the server coding making objects linked to players with a activity timer. Also making the method of determining if the shelter is being used or not which I guess it could determine if the creator of the shelter is within a minimum proximity and that would reset the destruction timer.

    Concept:
    -Object ID's linked to Player ID's are already integrated (it would have to be to allow Doors and Beds to work correctly).
    -Add in a subsystem of a destruction timer for player made objects (all) so anything that isn't in use gets destroyed (A animation of a shelter or other player made objects of it crumbling gets triggered [Trigger Event] )
    -Proximity determines whether specific players object gets destroyed or not (must be within a minimum proximity to reset destruction timer, but can be gone for 48-96 real hours) this is tied to the player who created the object and no one else. Anyone within a minimum radius of Destruction Trigger (trigger Event) will be damaged or killed (kill target would only be triggered if in the object when the Destruction trigger is active).
    /Concept

    Dont do like they did on DayZ Origins...they ruined the game for everyday with that 5 day thing...that means you can be more then 5 days without playing or else everything you own...you cant go out, you cant be sick, you cant go on vacation, you cant take a break from the game, etc...make a way so people can destroy the houses if they want to...or make it like 60 days before they despawn...

    perhaps a system where the building deteriorates slowly over time would work, they could simply add the ability to repair these walls, or maintain them, so if you are living in them you can maintain them because you live there, however if no one does the house will eventually break down, also if it deteriorates it could have holes in it allowing for vulnerable walls, or ineffective cover

    Possibly make it so that EITHER 3/4 days total of ingame time OR 3 months real time your house will expire. This seems better, as if it's ingame time you must be done with it after that long and in real time, you must be done with the game for a while would probably be a little rusty (...) and should probably start anew anyway.

    Well I think that the pillars and walls should eventually be removed too, BUT, the bigger the building is, the more "stable" it is, causing it to take longer to fall apart. Some factors in this would most likely just be foundations and pillars, as those are what would really give most real-world buildings support, so it makes sense here.

    Btw, conterpo0 and spawny... Why have you been marking a lot of posts as dumb? It makes no sense to me.

    A simple fix for shelters being everywhere , is an "edit" feature for only your own constructions, being able to move things you have made , or the best for a shack would be a "refund" type option where you got some wood back from the initial cost...

    I think you should be able to set fire to it... So when it only has one door/exit, you can light it up and the person living in there chooses between 4th degree burn or a shotgun to the face, while I'm waiting outside the door with a shotgun.
