So i was playing rust today, and I happened to look out over the water and saw this!



I dont know what it is, it kind of looks like some watchtower or something.

Does this mean that there could be vehicles like boats or something in a future update?

Wow I just went out to the coast to try and see this and I actually can. crazy

I just stuck it into photoshop and zoomed in and smoothed it, and from the colors and the design of the tower, it looks like a lighthouse to me.

I think its just the body of waters dynamic look so its not just a flat boring surface. Its a nice touch, as well as a good observation by you. Maybe there will be boats.

That's all I could see was the lighthouse and part of the "castle"

If you can't see the island at all, turn your brightness up on your monitor.

Wow thanks for pointing that out, didn't even notice that. Well in that case, by my observation it looks like it could be the worlds backdrop? after looking at the rust map it doesn't look like their are any specific islands that would have something of that sort. But defiantly possible

I dont think that its a backdrop, because unlike the skybox, when you move around, your perspective on it changes. Its a real 3d object!

Why didn't you take the photo in the day?

and take a PNG as well, JPG compression doesn't help when trying to look at small things.

Two things.

One, the perspective changes when you move around, as confirmed by sauce's screenshot, and two, the sky is not that high of quality, which is why i think its actually an island

Water kills you. Also its funny how the underwater areas are modeled too, I mean theres proper terrain under there.

Also, on another note I LOVE the way the water looks! With the bi-luminescence(spelling)? It looks amazing at night!
