I'm just curious about a couple of things, is voice communication planned for this game, and is it going to operate like a shout system?
Becuase I find it as important as the any other aspect of this planned game, communication is the answer for everything, it could be the difference between an angry axe and a helping hand.

This also brings me to the next point, incase such communication is implemented, outside communication would bring the death of it, giving the unfair advantage and a view of him vs us.
While I understand this is not dayz, this issue stands the same.
But is it even possible to stop outside communication, sort of like a game protection that checks the background?

It's NOT possible to stop a outside communication, it's kinda bad if you think about it, the game saying "NO" to your stuff and privacy and closing it up just that you use VOICE-Chatting in-game..

It would be nice to have a voice thingy on the game but you will have to wait a long time so that would happen, the game needs alot of work and maybe..JUST maybe that could get implemented, you'll never know.. and every game like DayZ as peaple using outside programs to communicate with each other and they team up with that.. It's not a big deal, it's fun (:

EDIT:. I don't even know if Unity3D can get implemented voice-chatting.. It would be kinda difficult I think.. or not even possible

Skype, Raidcall, TeamSpeak.. all those programs are used to voice communicate while peaple play games, and must of the players prefer using the programs then the voice thingy in-game
Being able to use voice chatting on Rust would ruin it kinda, think about the spammers and such, the hackers really messing with peaple and mic-spamming all the way.

EDIT:.WELL, Rust could have like a voice limiter like the gamemode Trouble In Terrorist Town(GMod) as that you can only use voice-chatting for some seconds and then you kinda have a cooldown and you talk more by letting the bar get back up and such so that you can talk more... Hm..

Well, the second you lose typing instead of talking could make all the difference either when someone is running at you with an axe or aiming at you. So.. I agree, if they can implement it, it should be implemented.

I hope you do understand how game breaking it is to find a camp with perfectly active people who are rather silent, you could also be minding your own bussiness while a group of people is approaching you, and of course you couldn't hear them becuase they are using an outside communication, it really is a serious difference in the game, as for teaming up and long range communication, a radio with adjusted signal could be implemented, something that you could craft or aquire.

My software developing skills are close to non existent, buy I'm still pretty sure that it is possible to implement some protection that would ban such clients, and it's not sad at all, it's like saying implementing a defence from hacking tools is violating my privacy of editing my data.

Hacking and outside communication both give unfair advantage, both use outside programs and both are easy to aquire, I can't see the difference realy, well I can, but you get the point hopefully.
And of course I don't expect it any time near now, just a suggestion.

The teamspeak server is public last I checked... Why not just join it? People who make private channels probably don't want to cooperate anyway, but the guys on TS are welcoming, friendly, and exactly the kind of dudes who would work with you.

    Edited:

I do agree, though, that an in game voice comm system is pretty necessary to build new relationships and check friendliness with new encounters. But in the meantime, hop on TS

Becuase I don't want to hear everyone the is currently in the game or in some zone, I want to be able to "live" the game, of course I don't want to tell people how to play the game, but it's one of those features that if there's not a full coopration it's pretty useless.

And in the meantime this game is in alpha and I'm not on the invited list, but I'm fine with waiting, I'm not much of tester really.

Game will have VOIP and local chat eventually. It's the only logical step.
