So, apparently there are cars in this game (according to pictures posted by garry) and since i haven't seen other posts or videos about this i decided to make a new thread
Firstly has anyone actually seen or driven a car, if you have where can you find them, how do you controll them etc.
If you have please make a wiki article, because there aren't any.

PS:English isn't my first language so if i made some mistakes dont be a dickbag

It's been an admin only thing from what I've seen, probably just for fun. Whether cars are implimented in the future or not is still up in the air.

Wouldn't be bad adds lots of more gaming time for either grabbing parts, making fuel, maintaining it, but what if your just sitting there one day in your 1 foundation little hut and bam a fucking truck crashes into your house and you fucking blow up

the problem is that once you log off you almost certainly lose the car to another player, so it is hardly worth the time and effort of getting enough resources unless you intend to play for 10 hours straight.

Pat spawned me in a car the other day, it was pretty sweet. You press E to get in it, and then if someone trys to come up to it it will say its occupied by you. It's got working headlights and drives pretty fast. It's as light as a feather, drive off a mountain and you float down slowly. I recorded it but its a large file and my shitty 5mbs/1mbs down/up would take forever to upload it, so I won't bother.

As of now pat said he only spawns them in before a restart because they get wiped on restarts. They can't be on the map for long because if they fall off the world it'll cause issues with game or somethin like that(said pat).

Also if you get flipped, it auto unflips after a few seconds. I was glad this was the case :P

I've seen the picture of Garry with the car.
Unless they add more cities, and I mean huge cities, that car wont fit with it's environment.. (Woods and small towns)

I think it would be good if we had a simple rusty old low qaulity metal made motorbike or pickup truck that runs of the fuel in the fuel container radiation area and I think they should be sprawled out all across the map and they need to add more to the map

    Edited:

    I hope they implement them

    Edited:

    Or add SOMTHING

Way to necro a post from June of last year.
Cars were removed in the last patch - they were an administrator only thing (however they've been completely broken and unusable for quite a long time now).

I hope they don't add motorized vehicles - if anything, donkeys/horses should be what they do end up adding.

They could roll downhill but I don't think they were ever steer-able.
However this thread is so old (from way before I ever bought the game) it could have been driveable back then.

Back in the closed alpha days a few times the devs (Pat and Helk if I remember correctly) would spawn a few cars in for players to have a little fun before a server restart.

I did make a thread about it a long time ago with a video of what happened which I will link for your convenience

Ya, cars exist but they are extremely fast and make the map feel tiny. I doubt they will implement them in their current state but I haven't seen them since they started selling Rust so they may have changed some things.

Cars, seriously? I don't think most everyone on this page understands why this idea is terrible! Imagine you are going out to gather resources for the house you are building. After 15 minutes you are walking back to your house, and some nine year old in a Ferrari runs you over at mock 1. He then proceeds to stop, get out of his car, and take all the shit you got from spawned boxes and resources! This is a survival game, not a gta dayz baby! For one, this can be abused in more ways then one, and two, it would probably be a thing that would make raiding a hell of a lot easier, FOR THE RICH!

Cars would be such a bad fit for this game. If they wanted something that fit the feel of Rust then they would use thrown together Motorcycles or a 4 wheel jeep ect. Something like what Fallen earth has, minus the car. There is only 1 road right now in rust and a lot of land to drive over that a car wouldnt be able to get to. But a bike, that would make for some epic fights and fun raids!

Given the size of the supposedly final map, I am guessing that some form of transportation other than by foot is needed. Maybe not shining race cars but maybe some rusty (pun intended) technicals such as these:
    & transports like these:

& maybe later on at the cost of 1000 low quality metal and the same amount of low grade fuel, these:

The first two vehicles seem like a great idea later on, but I really cannot see a way to balance an armored car. Even the pros with their M4s wont be able to kill the people in it. The first two vehicles were balanced with no cover on the jeep and only cloth as cover on the transport. Armored cars just would be so op that I would want to leave a server if I saw one. To all but the 1% of people who have the means to destroy this kind of vehicle it is just a moving fortress that you cant even run away from because it's faster than you.

Hahaha yes, the APC is somewhat of an exaguration, hince the suicide smiley, altough, I wouldnt mind them including it if the developers decided to add makeshift rpg's, molotov's and shaped charges, I mean, we can already craft satchel charges. But yeah, as of now, an APC would be a game killer.

Personally I'd like to see it more realistic. Firstly, make it POSSIBLE to put together a small vehicle, but only after finding a laundry list of parts from rad areas (I.e. Tires, Hubs, Axle, Frame Section A/B/C/D/E/F/G/H, Body Section A/B/C/D/E/F/G/H, Block, Cylinder Head, Intake, Steering Column, etc, etc) make them researchable, and require all to put a vehicle together. Vehicle requires Gasoline (something diff than Low Grade Fuel) and to make Gasoline you have to refine Low Grade Fuel in a home-made refining contraption.

And while you're grinding out this mission impossible task, you can tame a horse and ride that fucker into the sunset.
