The game progression is effectively capped by cheaters, quit pushing this compound fallacy through (slowly becoming ad hominem). One of the core gameplay objectives is being denied. That cripples playability, I literally can't explain it further if you still don't get it. Rust is a game, not an everlasting run-around gather-resources simulator. Like I said, the situation is like having an MMORPG where your character is stuck at a certain lvl (and say he can't earn any more gold/whatever).

I have never seen a hacker. Maybe I just go on good servers and not shit ones. Maybe you are just unlucky.
I am aware that hackers exist, but they are not crippling if you get on a good server with good admins and friendly players

Circular argument- you're coming up with statements that are addressed by what I've already said previously. You also suddenly changed your argument and are denying the issue that... ermm, is kind of proven by the mere popularity of this thread (the presence of hackers).

1. If you think this game has no hope even though many people who don't deny hackers are telling you there are good servers, then that means you "who I'm assuming as gone through every single community server and found abusive admins and not one friendly environment" then you just just uninstall.
2. Do you ever read anything someone says to you properly? Or do you just read some and then put the pieces together in your head? Extronic replied saying he hasn't run into hackers, but doesn't deny it. You reply to him "Oh you are denying hackers and their presence" . You're a moron.

We have banned tons of hackers on our server. Saying they don't exist is naive to the game in general. The newest hack we have come across which I have never seen before is players guns being "possessed" or remote into killing friends with another players gun. Had one rampant on our server for a few hours. Our group targeted a few times, where the hacker would kill us with our own players. But the catch is they had control of the gun only not the players.

So is it custom around here to brand an assaillant a hacker, or just everyone who manages to piss me off? I'm all for throwing out the unfair players but not on the whim of someone crying wolf because their base got raided or they got shot in the face.
I've seen people popping into bases with no explanation, people running at 100mph and people who take 20+ hits to kill. Those are the easiest to point out and when one gets exposed it is almost always with proof. But omfg the amount of people who cry aimbot is sickening. Most likely because It's the hardest to prove and leaves admins on the fence even with believable evidence. Please elaborate, and ofc 10 headshots in a row is suspicious. But where to draw the line with someone who sucks and dies all the time, then gets lucky and automatically is considered a hacker. I just don't get it.

I'm not telling that his calculations (30% of playerbase) are correct but as server owner I have completely NO way to positively spot a "smart hacker".
Another thing is his playtime, over 150hrs yet still running and ruining games.

There is no hack I've heard of that would cause this - this looks like it was done by the remover plugin for modded servers. Note that this plugin can be set to be used by admins (who can do it to any base) or by everyone (who can only remove things they placed themselves), so either they're admins or they have the plugin set to all.

Hacks on multiple servers under different names. Every hack in the book...shoots through walls, speed hack, super-jump, aimbot, etc. Witnessed by at least 20 people tonight on:

1. Me, and many other players, are in a situation where any effort involved with Rust is no longer worth it. The situation is explained above- it's not worth it to dig through servers, one per few days, and waste hours of 'leisure time' on finding the proper server. Read with comprehension: not once have I mentioned 'friendly environment'; you're generalizing my arguments and blending them in with typical Rust newbie whine. I'll say it again: there exists a situation where Rust is unplayable, and there is a number of players who reached that situation, including me. Stop trying to refute the existence of such a situation just to keep the world that you see as rose-tinted as it is now.
2. He hasn't ran into hackers. OK. So suddenly, during an exchange of arguments one party presents a non-argument in the same form, which tbh I wasn't sure of what it really was. First I address his post as if it was advice, so I link the post of mine which renders it useless, then I address it as an argument (just in case). Regardless of what that post was, it's rendered useless in the discussion. Do you ever properly read anything someone says if they disagree with your rose-tinted viewpoint?

I administer the game server and I do not know how to catch cheaters shot in the head with a single shot.
You can see the speedhack. Jumpinghack too. But Rust_AIM_Chaet is not tracked! This is a big problem!
High-attach the efforts to protect against cheaters and hackers! Suffer honest players!

Brick, Clonestar, and Jacksirianni are all confirmed hackers on the server I play on. They also game with a character named Hellokitty but that could be Chip.

This is a pretty hefty accusation to post and without proper proof you may be violating the forums policies. I looked at the steam profiles and nothing looks suspicious with them except that Chip has one game only? Also, Chip is not friends with any of the same people listed by spitznagel. Just should check your facts first before claiming hacks. Also, didnt take long to findout that Molotov and Hoboninja are friends. So as we sit there are 2 people claiming 1 person is hacking and confirmed with no proof and 3 others who are possible hackers?

Believe who or whatever you want to believe. One person stated their experience with these players and I correlated that claim based on my own experience. I sincerely hope these people do not decide to play on your server because it won't take them long to ruin a lot of people's enjoyment in a short amount of time.

I actually got them to join my server based on this thread and will be monitoring them closely with my mods for the next couple days and report my findings. Fingers crossed this is all a misunderstanding as some server admins hit the ban hammer well before proving they are hacking. If they are I will find out and post what I find. I have been accused of hacking before when I am obviously not so I know what its like to have a person spamming someone is hacking because of a misjudgement. Wish me Luck!

I don't quite understand why no one is posting their steam ID's so the dev's can quickly inspect them and see if they are hacking or not.
I played on this server where this guy called "whoami" was hacking, admitted it, and the admins did nothing. It was in the middle of the night, I was standing in a shelter that had a wall missing. whoami asks me in the chat if that raided shelter was mine, I avoided the question and asked him "you aren't in front of me, so how can you see my nametag?" He tells me in the chat (openly( that he is hacking. Then like an ass, he says "I can autowall you. Watch" then I get shot through the wall and I die.
When I complained in chat people said "we know he hacks but we don't have a problem with whoami" or something similar to that.

The hacks are making this game utterly unplayable. I can't go outside my house for more than 3 minutes before I'm found by a speedhacker with aimbot. Same hackers keep spamming the chat like crazy (especially the letter T for some odd reason) to slow the server down to a grinding halt. This game is so much fun and has so much freedom, but the hackers are ruining my experience.
I'm counting the 20 euroes as wasted cash.

There, our 2 -days house is gone, why? because it seems you ignore my reports and let your "anticheat" do its job when its not doing it good enougth, and instead you banning me when im reporting players and trying to make the game community better. Hacks hes been using: God mode, Instakilling, shooting through doors, Flying and speed hacking.
Please, he has been hacking on this server for several days and it seems he wont get banned anytime soon.

Just got insteaheadshotted by one guy, then another guy jumps up 6 floors (was building that floor at the moment) and loots all my shit. I'm going to try another server, if I encounter the same shit I'm basicly giving up.

A hacker destroyed everyone's, if not everyone's then close to it: storage crates, sleeping bags, furnaces. Also, killed basically everyone logged in instantly.
The only things that remained in peoples bases were work benches and beds.
Is it possible for the server to be rolled back, or completely wiped?
This is ridiculous!
He then proclaimed he was the god of the island/server and everything needed to be cleansed.

How do you stop 1 player terrorising an entire server for days. He laughs in everyones face , insults people and uses a bunch of cheats. He even admits it . He changes nicks every hour or so and kills everyone on the server atleast twice every hour sometimes he picks on someone in particular and wont even let him respawn properly , instakills him . He got banned before and jut bought the game again on another account and started hacking agains . He also said he will do it again if he gets banned . He says $20 is nothing to him and he can just get the game over and over again....how do you stop that ?
