Hey guys, since "What's outside the window?" went so well; I thought it'd be cool to have another small competition.

The gist of the contest is that models are not allowed. This is a test of your brushwork skill and how you can utilize other tools to make-up for it.

    1st Place - $10 Paypal from KnightVista
    2nd Place - $5 Paypal from KnightVista

    Rules:

    1. The map must be playable, and you must upload at least one screeny.
    2. The map must be submitted to me via Private Message and/or in this Thread before Monday, January 28, 2012 at 12:00 AM CST
    3. Custom content must be packed in with the download. Errors and missing materials could cause your map to not place!
    4. Your map may not contain any models whatsoever. NPC's are allowed though!
    5. YOLO
Remember the competition ends on Monday, January 28, 2012 at 12:00 AM CST!
    Best of Luck!

I'm great with making complex objects out of brushes, but whenever I join a contest I never manage to finish my entry.

    Good luck to everyone participating!

I'd rather you not use Portal 2 because I do not have it : (

But if you do please package the content with the map.

    L4D2 is fine.

Here it is! A small CSGO map designed for one-on-one close-range training.

    Wait, wait.... Wait.

we're allowed to continue unfinished projects that don't contain models? Hmm, see I was working on a lil something a while back, and adding some gameplay to it might just push me enough to finish it:

So I guess I should go find the vmf files,. ooh this is exciting!

    If it's a brush; it's ok.
    (NPCs are an exception)

This give you an unfair advantage by using previous work. But I can't stop you.

Don't worry, now that I look at the sreenshots I remember what it was that made me give up last time. see that top left hand corner of the building? where it's all glass and frame? And that curved corner with the unfinished glass above it? That.

That right there is the most frustrating piece of brushwork EVER.

    Fuck that window.

Sorry but I'm going to have to drop out of this. I got a short notice (possible) deployment call a few minutes ago. I hope I don't get selected haha. I had scheduled some leave a week ago to go back home, so that would be a kick in the ass.

Seems like just a regular use of the arch tool with nodraw as the default texture would have saved you a lot of trouble.

The rules say it has to be playable so if you just say it's a sandbox map it should be fine I think.

I could make that for you real quick if you want (and if it's okay with KnightVista), just toss me the VMF of that part.

Func_Detail is as close to a model you're allowed to make your brush.

    Sorry : (

I never said you couldn't. But it's not my responsibility to make sure your friend splits the cash with you if he places.

You have to be able to walk around the map (Minimum Requirement.) But the whole point of submitting a map is so that it is playable. Because if it was just eyecandy then it might as well be a screenshot contest.

    You feel me?
