The Empire needs to expand since it needs more space for the 10 million people living in the country which makes it quite cramped like sardines. They mostly begin expansions by annexing supporting and willing villages,but troops have been deployed just in case. And the evil woods are no longer evil since the discovery that the type of trees there are good for silk moths. Silk production is starting soon. And will someone fix that coast near India and the ugly rectangle line near Creta?

The Union of Italy is a collection of many different city-states and small countries that for protection and economic growth, formed one large country. It has been successful in uniting almost all of the Italian Peninsula. One of the main problems with this, is that parts of Italy are just so different. The culture is mixed from all the city-states this leads to violence between the states of Italy. The good thing is that the UoT invests a lot of money into it's military so that usually isn't a huge problem. Obviously being a communist state you require a large military.
The UoT is lacking in the technology department in everything but military technology. Italy will pay anything to stay at the top of military might. UoT does have universities but they are underfunded but the current supreme leader is looking to fix that because of this, "Industrial Revolution," everyone is talking about.
Infrastructure wise the country is very weak. Railroads aren't commonly used yet so there are few, forcing companys to haul their product with horse and carts.
They are currently facing overpopulation problems and are looking for expansion.

The city of Black Fields is starting to exploit some more of the oil that is underground the surrounding area (which occasionally comes to the surface, giving the place its name.)

The UCSE's expansion efforts have continued, and local villages have asked to join the union. This, along with some of the UCSE's own territorial expansions have continued the UCSE's efforts to expand its territory for increased growth and economic gain. The army has expanded greatly, going from only 200 units at the beginning of the campaign to 2,000 now. Meanwhile, the capital has been relocated further inland for the government's reconstruction plan. The plan includes a larger government, which requires bigger government structures. A decision was made to create a brand new, modern capital where the government has more room to expand.

The Union of Italy
(Format stolen from Russia in the last European War because it's better then all of you fools)
The UoT ungarrisons some of it's troops to meet the rebels in combat. A infantry army uses a few civilian ships to cross the contested island and readys itself for an attack. A few rebel ships have presented themselves and have blocked a port of one of our important trade cities. This severally hurt out economy. Afterwords, we expanded their claims to the Strait of Gibraltar so they can control the trade going in and out of the Mediterranean Sea. A town has also been created in northern Italy to assert it's control in the claimed territory. The government has began funding of improved firearm research.

The UPC sends men to expand borders down in the south territory, and also gets a handhold on the island, which could be useful for military purposes later.
UPC sends some diplomats to the NPR to arrange some trade agreements and treaties.

Progress in the power production area. Scientists have discovered a more reliable method of turning oil into power that is also a bit more efficient. More study is going into this.
A better farming technique: Underground. Since the UPC area is generally cold (less cold in Southern Territory) heating costs. Keeping it underground reduces that. The researchers are still trying to find a reliable way to let in sunlight without letting in cold.

A nearby state's government collapsed and the Empire annexed it. The troops have been reinforced. There shouldn't be any serious opposition since the people there are pro-empire. A ship also embarks,it's purpose to get to the northern seas. After an little incident,the empire starts researching (primitive)grenades. (they will be glorified firecrackers don't worry)

The UPC is thinking of building a large railway connection between the townships, probably underground. A vote is going out to the citizens whether they want to raise taxes to build it, or just have it built between the main cities only.

Since some cities were conquered,the empire experiences a small population jump. And since the farmers are making silk,a lot of money has come into the Empire,allowing training of horsemen. They prove to be extremely effective and are deployed north,while the infantry advances southeast,their goal is Tsarigrad(Constantinopole). The boat continues it's journey to the unknown place.

The UPC manage to absorb the island and the area around the Southern Territory with no trouble. Another push out to the east happens, along with some military units to make sure all goes well. The Farmers say the area would be perfect for plants that need higher temperatures.

Thanks to the annual Convention of Technology taking place at Black Fields, some of the scientists got together along with each of the factions (Farmer, Fisher, Fighter) to talk about what to improve. Farming went very well, where some Farmer introduced the idea of layering glass, with layers of air between the glass, to provide insulation. The Farmer also said that the idea could be applied to be used with houses, too. Lots of studying is going into mass producing this type of glass.
Power also came along excellently, with a new oil pumping station set up in the Black Fields. It apparently could suck up as much as 500 gallons of oil in a few days!

The New Pacific Republic proposes a trade agreement that includes exchanging gold, timber, and various technologies for Alaskan oil.
The NPR also sends out regiments of soldiers and imposes a very thin annexation line cutting across North America, to discourage the UPC from expanding into southern territories.
In addition, The NPR finishes a trade agreement with Panama to buy a section of Central America for a canal project.
An expedition goes forth into the pacific, to see if they can establish a colony in Asia in order to trade for Asian goods like porcelain and the best silks, as well as to study and document wildlife in Asia.
The New Pacific Republic Contacts the UCSE, and proposes a trade agreement. They offer gold in exchange for assisting in a new canals project that would economically connect Europe with the West.

The Union of Italy
A infantry battalion meant a rebel group today and sadly lost the brawl. There were massive casualties and just when the army was about to retreat, the rebels surrounded them and anyone that didn't surrender was killed in action. Somewhat good news comes from the sea, today our navy engaged a cheap rebel fleet and won. Sadly shortly after that the rebels counter-attacked and destroyed them, the good news is that the blockade has been lifted. Meanwhile some soldiers have been massing together to get a good force to fight the rebels. Italy has also expanded it's claims to the river to stop the empire's expansion into rightful Italian land. This has caused the same rebels as the southern ones to pop up. A army has been dispatched to deal with this. We have also seen a overseas empire begin to create, "Aerodynamic lead balls," we have decided to also look into this and make it better ourselves.

The UCSE has begun rapid expansion to the East after the previous annexation had been completed, and other new territory has been acquired to the north where towns have joined the Union and have been incorporated into existing states. Additionally, a boat that is a part of the UCSE's new military has been sent to North America in order to assist in the construction of a canal. The UCSE's military has expanded to ships and artillery, parts of both already being deployed. The UCSE also has begun researching after the first team of UCSE sponsored scientists has been created. They have begun researching the following technologies.

They do, but they don't exactly do much. You don't see someone actively pushing a cannon forward in a battle.

Some of the researchers just came up with a good way to allow more bullets to be fired. Have more space for bullets. The boys are thinking that if they allow for some kind of holder for ammo, you could fire, change to next bullet, fire again. (This is a revolver, not a magazine fed rifle. This idea may lead to bolt/lever closer to 1910 tho.)
Power is coming along nicely. Oil is being extracted from the Black Fields at a good rate. I send out a general invitation to trade in the form of some guys on boats. They'll make their way around to Europe and sell some Premium UPC oil. Somebody suggested finding a new way to use the oil, since its only being used for lamps as of now.
Farming is coming along well, too. The first underground farm has been established, with a roof of the layered glass, allowing sun but not cold. Farmers say it would be great for root vegs and maybe wheat.
The colonization expedition is ready. Made up of 10 boats, it'll make it's way down the west coast, to the equator. The colonists are bringing some oil, food, and a boat of seeds to start farming. Hopefully we can grow our stuff there. One boat is also loaded with soldiers, in case we encounter some problems.
