    Did you watch the final cut? In my experience the narration element that is present in the usual version completely ruined the film for me.
    It was the "Theatrical Cut," it had a Noir style narration throughout most of the film.

    "I don't know why he saved me, maybe in those last moments blah blah blah blah"

    That version is notoriously underwhelming and hated by both the fans and the creators. When people recommend Blade Runner they're almost always talking about the director's cut.

    Blade Runner has still the best atmosphere, but it's already been told in this thread.

    Throne of Blood by Akira Kurosawa has amazing atmosphere, but most of his films have amazing atmosphere as well.
