Good stuff, I really like the flow you put into expressions and posture.
Is the kid on the left from the Game Grumps drawing the kid from the Iron Giant?
Lots of the stuff in here obviously isn't original, it would be nice to see characters that you have come up with (if there are some in here I'm sorry :P the just all look like they could be in a Disney film anyway so i cant tell)
As for crit on the work, Id say that the blond kid with the striped shirt has his feet pointing too far upward, he looks slightly unnaturally, like his legs are leaning back but his body is central, also the left shoulder looks slightly too slumped :)
the colouring in thoes which have it is fantastic and your understanding of how they meld with shadow really helps to lend the work a pop.
Ooh yeah I haven't amde alot of original characters yet, just getting into that. Oh yeah that's Lucas from the Earthbound series! Im trying to study color theory a bit more and see how colors combine and all that.
Still pretty wonky with perspective, and I knew I'd get alot of crits on FP if I asked for it so Im pretty excited already :'D
Aaah I have observed lot of FP users and seen their attitude so I tend to be genuinely polite so I get as much contructive crits as possible haha
Here goes my 3 AM doodles!
It's quite good, though you do seem to be petting your lines a little bit.
Also, I'm not really digging the standing pose. It seems a bit stiff, and a little like she's leaning back. The legs and feet also seem to be a bit far to the left.
Aaah yes I do the "furry lines" alot, I think Im not confident or patient enough to do larger strokes, trying to get that under control though!
Standing poses are hard :'D I should learn to use references...
OMG NO WAY
you're one of my favorite artists on dA. Love your stuff
I know it's been said before but gesture drawings are the best thing you can do about this. Hit up Barnhouse or lucky for some links but in the meantime have a few scripts and a post on sketching:
@Fudge ; ahakjdsf gosh thanks :'D
@Krinkels oh man I have never been to any of these sites. Thanks a bunch!
Who the fuck are you and why are you so goddamn talented?
In all seriousness, I love the way you draw expressions. Call me jealous. Keep it up!
Very impressive! Very nice faces, expressions and poses. I see you probably studied Cory Loftis hehe.
ooh I have..no idea who Cory Loftis is actually sdkjf But thanks alot!
Eraserhead doodle. (40 min )
One of my favourite movies of all time.
I used the art site stuff and did some 30-60 second gestures.
Bodies - 60 sec Hands - 30 sec
(I have no idea why the hand one is so goddamn huge how do I resize fsdkjds)
Thank you Krinkels for the links! Going to do this more often to get my lines goin'
Woah. I love the fact that most of your drawings tend to look so damn expressive. Nice job
This is all excellent; so expressive.
I'd love to see you do a more ambitious project though.
Your stuff has a very old timey cartoon feel to it, which I love.
Skjdsf thanks you guys haha :'D
@Robbobin, We're having our exhibitions for school in may as our finals or someshit, then I probably have something more complete to show. Right now Im trying to build up to it by testing and practicing :)
@Bidoubssdfbis ...-- Yeah I grew up with the good 90's cartoons in which Ren&Stimpy, CatDog, Rocko's Modern life /etc played a huge part for my inspiration! I also am inspired by egoraptor and other artists which has a 90's style to them.
Themrock is probably my alltime favourite. His stuff is sick http://themrock.deviantart.com/
oh fuck that Lucas is amazing, I fucking love Earthbound.
Huh, I dunno but for some reason his proportions seem a little off to me.
I tried this pencil and smudging technique for the second time and I felt productive for once.
(When I see this again, I see his face looks really wonky . I tried mirroring it with..a mirror at times)
This is Vash from Trigun. I used some weird paper things for smudging the pencil strokes instead of my fingers and it blends very well with soft pencils.
First step; Sketching up and refining here and there.
Second; I love to create snazzy bold outlines to add some dynamic shit.
Third; Adding shadows and smudging with the paper "pencil"...and adding and adding and smudging like crazy.
Fourth; Refining some details and adding more darker areas/highlights.
No erasers was used in this as far as I remember aha jfsdk
About an hour used on this whole thing btw I have NO patience /cry
Good shit man
Angle of his neck inside his collar is a bit odd, and his jawline is very thick and heavy toward the top where it should be fading out to nothing. His ear is pretty bizarre.
Nice work regardless
Ok so a huge breaktrough happened a few days ago. I was contacted by a local published and was asked to draw for a children's book about a cat named Plystrepus (which is roughly translates to Whistlepuss)
So this is the first design for him. I need to design 5 other characters for the book.
Additional characters for thechildren's book.
I carefully chose the colors to go with their personality. Even though the book only features like 1-2 pictures max of each character, I wanted to put alot of work in the design of each and every one. Making them all look different with shapes and colors.
Thanks people aha!
I saw Paperman last week, I think I was inspired by the GIF's on Tumblr a while before the short came out on youtube.
Yeah Paperman's okay I guess
Your talent is amazing!
I love the Vash the Stampede ones. Have you ever drawn any of the others, specifically Millie? I think its a really nice re-imagining of him, so I'd love to see it on some other Trigun characters, too.
Congrats on the book gig, your characters are stylised fantastically. Living the dream mate
