    Time to start digging into the new Hammer version and see what goodies can be found.
    I'm sure there's going to be a lot

    Edited:

    I believe awhile back in a leak, we saw that they had a copy of dota 2 in the source 2 folder at valve.

    I remember this too, but isn't Dota 2 really close to Alienswarm engine wise? Either way, I really hope Dota 2 isn't really Source 2.

    Confirmed source 2?

    It's from the steam_244670 file with the workshop alpha installed.

    Dota 2 could be a stepping stone into Source 2, eventually being fully ported over. Which would explain why they wait until now to give modding support

    actually I think that's 100% the case, in the example addon it has a file called "source1import_name_remap_table" in which is recalls files used last Winter. So it looks like this transition is underway?

    Code:
    "name_remap_table"
    {
    	"vpcf"
    	{
    		"splitter_a"		"particles/creature_splitter/splitter_a.vpcf"
    etc

    New just, just came to post that dota2 64-bit build that came with the Workshop Tools definitely seems to be running on Source2. It has a new, very pretty console, but a lot of Source1 console commands such as net_graph no longer work either.

    There's a GUI interface for importing and setting up models. I'd be shocked if QCs are a thing at all beyond legacy content.

    net_graph is gone but there's a net_status that takes a snapshot of network info and just prints it to console.

    For example:

    Code:
    [ Networking ]: Net status for host 192.168.1.138:
    [   Networking        ]: - Config: Multiplayer, listen, 2 connections
    [   Networking        ]: - Ports: 0 client 27005, 1 server 27015, 2 hltv 27020, 3 p2p 0, 4 total.
    [   Networking        ]: - Latency: avg out 0.02s, in 0.02s
    [   Networking        ]: - Loss:    avg out 0.0, in 0.0
    [   Networking        ]: - Packets: net total out  55.2/s, in 55.3/s
    [   Networking        ]:            per client out 27.6/s, in 27.6/s
    [   Networking        ]: - Data:    net total out  9.1, in 9.1 kB/s
    [   Networking        ]:            per client out 4.6, in 4.5 kB/s

    How long does steam save your avatars for? I've saved the URL of every avatar I've ever used on steam since september 2012 and they are all still on steam's servers, I made sure they weren't just still cached on my machine. What's up with that?

    I'm not real familiar with Source these days. I found a reference to PhysX, I believe. Is this new?

    \..\Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota_ugc\game\bin\sdkassettypes.txt

    Code:
    <!-- schema text {7e125a45-3d83-4043-b292-9e24f8ef27b4} generic {198980d8-3a93-4919-b4c6-dd1fb07a3a4b} -->
    CAssetTypeConfig
    {
    	//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
    	// Resource Types
    	//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    	CResourceAssetTypeInfo[] m_ResourceTypes =
    	[
    		...

    		CResourceAssetTypeInfo
    		{
    			string m_Name 			= "physics_collision"
    			string m_FriendlyName = "Physics Collision Mesh"
    			string m_IconLg 		= "toolimages:assettypes/physics_lg.png"
    			string m_IconSm 		= "toolimages:assettypes/physics_sm.png"
    			string m_Ext 			= "vphys"
    			string m_ResourceModule 	= "vphysics2"
    			bool m_bHideTypeByDefault	= true
    			bool m_bIgnoreCompiledState  	= true
    			string[] m_AssetTypeGroups	= ["Physics"]
    			string m_CompilerIdentifier	= "CompileVPhysXData"
    			bool m_bCanBeAChildCompile	= true

    Bonus: (hammer 2014)

    looks much more user-friendly

    if you think about valve's typical release schedule we could be seeing a new game from them in 2-3 months

    There's no point to hurry with porting main dota client to source 2 because it looks exactly the same, but more bugs.
