If anyone has ever played Moonbase Alpha knows exactly what I'm talking about. This is some little toy I made within a few minutes to entertain my self, it will actually playback the conversations you have with your friends on Steam with some hilarious Text to Speech engine.

    Features
Individual voice per user, based upon SteamID
Should work now no matter if Beta client or not
Able to silence ongoing speech by sending "sh"

    Download
    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?1atjpwcbaceap1s (v1.0.1c)

    How does it work?
    1. Execute SteamTTS.exe and keep it open
    2. Chat with your friends on steam

    Credits

    OpenSteamworks, Andrew McAlwaysPlayingDota2, Didrole, GranPC

    Enjoy

    P.S.: Do expect bugs

Both of my group chats. When I get a message, it freezes for a second then closes. Doesn't happen to my friend though.

It might be because I have two group chats open.

Yep, it works when you are not group chatting.

It does sound a bit muffled though.

Uhh there needs to be a 'stop sounds' ability.

FP chat is now ruined, rip.

If you made it sound more like the moonbase alpha voice, that would be great.

It's amazing, I love it, only problem, gave it to a friend and he tried to run it, it didn't run, saying "not a valid win32 application"
is there any way of fixing that?

I would like to offer a few suggestions. Do not read out messages that are past a preset character limit. Do not read out code other users have printed into chat. Do not read out web links or special characters.

I see a lot of potential in this so please continue developing this. Would there be any chance of releasing the source for this in the future?

Uh strange, I'll look into that on a VM

Edit: Looks like its due Visual Studio 2012 using VC11 framework.

Compiled it using VC10 framework now, runs fine on the VM.

This is fun to play with! My only complaint so far is that if you copy/paste rich text with quotation marks, it reads it as "circumflex *indiscernible*" and then reads the rest of the letters in the word.

Yeah, I'd rather it just skip things it doesn't know how to pronounce than start reading the gibberish names of the glyphs.

    Cool.

There seems to be an issue with encoding, because special characters do that "section circunflex" stuff.
