    I've been wank free for 2 weeks now and whilst i do get random erections, i couldnt get it up with a girl i liked so it hit me that i needed to stop waking/watching porns.

    I have been so tempted sometimes but i stopped, hopefully this helps as i find myself more in control of things now that i can overcome the urge to rip out the beast and fap to whatever the hell i want.

    Well, here's my shitty theory, I myself have excellent sexual drive, and I have never had any adverse affects from porn, but that's me. I enjoy my life and it doesn't feel dead and numb. I really enjoy the little things. I think that your brain gets used to the way you watch porn a lot, releasing dopamine and all that. But it gets well adjusted, in my case at least. And if you stop, your brain has to adjust to the other pattern that you are now putting on yourself. At first that might make us feel shitty but once it's adjusted we feel great again and it is nice in comparison to when you felt like you were having mood swings all over the place. Makes you feel like it was a improvement from watching porn.
    Maybe it is, but for me, its not. Don't tell me I have never tried it because I have and it didn't do much.

    I don't give a shit about the science mumbo jumbo. I've had interesting experiences with depriving myself of things. One time I took away my computer and tv and literally just sat alone for 2 weeks. It was an eye opening experience and it took me a while to hook my computer back up. I don't use it as much now as a result and don't think about it much.

    I'm in, add me to the list, noticed I was considerably happier and girls reacted to me more when I stopped masturbating for 3 weeks, went back to it due to boredom a couple of weeks ago, feeling depressed again, I'm also less confident and the girl I like noticed it. When you do it due to boredom, it needs to stop.

    Will do 20 push-ups and 15 sit-ups every time I get the urge, seems like the best way.

    The thing that helped me quit for 3 weeks before was I was always listening to music around the time I generally felt the urge, if I was enjoying the music I just didn't get the urge at all.

    Possibly a placebo, don't care, if it works for me then I'm happy being ignorant.

    Or you could just limit yourself to once a week, and only look at soft stuff. The point is your brain is only going to get rewired if you are doing this shit every day. Moderation is more likely to succeed and you won't feel like shit.

    You're only every going to get these symptoms of desensitising if you display behaviour related to addicts, smokers don't lose nicotine rush if they only smoke 3 or 4 a day. Porn isn't the problem its excessive stimulation.

    Just wanted to say: people who are doing this, keep it up (har-de-har).
    I stopped (mostly) about 3-4 months ago and I've never felt better since before I started. I was pretty miserable getting over the hump (har-de-har), but now it's great. I'm pretty social now, got a girlfriend who I like a lot, and have lots of fun. It's really easy to concentrate and I get a lot more done. The only difficulty I'm having is that my internet addiction has been worsening dramatically in the last month or so, but I'm trying to get over that too. So best of luck to people who are trying.

    I don't see the benefit to this, I don't think I've ever seen an unbiased article on the subject and until I do it seems to be a harmless habit. I'm not in and I probably never will be.

    Not too hard to avoid, just keep yourself busy doing other things. I play a lot of games, watch a lot of videos, or do school work.

    Like others have said as well, if you think about it, do some exercise instead.

    This a thousand times. Day 3/4 (?), I'm starting to feel immense temptation.     I do have early results, however, immensely increased energy, pushing out more reps than usual at the gym and feeling motivated about it. A quirky confidence in social interactions and even a different rhythm to a walking pace.

    Before anyone calls out the placebo effect on any of these people just note that if they see improvements in their life and confidence there is absolutely no harm in doing this.

What I'm saying is that you've got the abilities to do all the awesome stuff already but you've never had a tool for unlocking it. Overcoming the urge to masturbate (which is mostly due to hormones, not porn addiction which this guy seem to imply everywhere) is difficult. When you succeed, you get a mental boost. Rinse and repeat.

    Remember that regular masturbation has a fuckton of benefits. Do it with moderation and you'll be fine. And again, if this works for you, by all means do it.

    But with porn addiction comes masturbation addiction. When people quit porn, they almost always stop masturbating as much. When you masturbate, your testosterone levels go down, which has a slew of side effects. Increased testosterone, in turn, has a slew of benefits.
