Just got invited into the Dota 2 beta.
The first time I got a beta invite was during the Christmas event, it was given to me as a random gift for completing one of the daily objectives, which I then traded for Warhammer Space Marine.
This time around, I just got an email saying Congrats you are in, and it was automatically added to my steam.
Looking forward to trying this out.
I swear everyday I play solo queue the people are just getting worse.
Not my match, just a really, really fun one to watch. Goes for an hour with just an amazing game. I don't want to spoil what happens for anyone if you do watch it. It ends with almost all heroes even in K/D/A. Very exciting. My friends and I are hoping to use it for a pub cast for fun on Friday.
Gonna watch it on a big screen TV in a room with some friends and a mic. Gonna be a party.
I am kinda new to this game so explain this to me, in the current meta why is tinker not picked much? This question mainly refers to comp matches. Push strats are popular right now, which is why Natures Profit is picked a lot. Between his trees, his teleport, and ult he can have a global presence while pushing with his trees. With tinkers ult, his army, and boots of travel he can have a similar presence and pushing power. With rearm and BoT he has near infinite mana, can cast his army twice in order to push lanes hard. Hell, casting a double army in a team fight gives him more of a team fight presence than Profit. Not to mention his ability to pick off low health heroes running away with his missiles.
I just, I don't get why he is hardly ever seen in tournaments these days.
I wish I could play, no one I've emailed has gotten back to me and I can't post on the dev forums.
I'll say it again, be wary when you play with Glubbable, act rude to him once and he can get your game revoked.
Hes too easily countered by Pugna and in tournament games you cant have free farm as Tinker as all possible farm has to go for the carry. Furion doesn't need to farm BoT to get global presence and since hes a jungler, he leaves a spot open for a hero to gain solo exp. Furion also has a sort-of disable also which Tinker lacks.
i doubt it
Its funny actually. You were rude to alot of players during the times we played and you also claimed one of my friends to be mentally challenged because he didn't do so well as Axe. Oh and I love how your excuse for being a douche to Tetra during that one game because he was doing poorly as Lina during early game as "we're friends so its cool". Piss off, you were a douche to me when I struggled during the times we use to play as well.
As its been stated before, Valve doesn't revoke copies based on one persons complaint. You were an asshole, people reported you. Accept it, instead of constantly trying to attack me.
Yeeeeaaaah, I'm finally in. Looking forward to suck in-game, guys.
I'm so fucking pissed off right now. Lost a 90 minute game. First Bane feeds then after 15 minutes of feeding he leaves. Then I start picking off heroes and actually start winning. We take down 2 barracks by around 80 minutes in (hard to fight an army of fed heroes and still push afterwards) and then Clockwerk just fucking LEAVES because his fucking time is precious or some bullshit. We then lose 3v5 with me as lifestealer with 20+ kills and almost all their barracks down. This is just shit. I'm losing so many games but we actually had a shot this one until everyone fucking left me.
I think I'm actually more disappointed than anything.
i am the mvp
Ok guys, I've got into the beta through the second key handouts, and I would want your opinion on who I should play for the first few ai games:
• Dragon Knight
• Drow Ranger
I know I should try out all the heroes, but I just want to have a "main" few heroes I could play as in the future...
Matter of fact the first time I played a carry, that is earthshaker, I completely destroyed the other team with it even though they were obviously advanced at the game. It's terrifying how a void can ult them, and when they try to run away afterwards you hit the fissure, get close and ground pound + echo slam.
Not many survive it to say the least.
First amateur cast, since someone said they'd watch it.
Let me know how we can improve, please.
Some problems I'm aware of:
-Slurpee's too quiet
-My voice was dry and I was tired after a full night of doing practice casts
-Sound gets out of sync, thinking it may be fraps
-It may be the Obvious Hour, but we're learning
The frame rate is a bit low.
Won the first game in my life, but it didn't count. Public, no leavers, what to do?
I just won my first game as Drow Ranger on Dire.
First off I thought I bought some items, put them in the quick buy box, but it turned out I didn't buy anything :v
My first 2 thirds of the round was me escorting the bots (I play SMNC, so I'm used to calling them that) through the centre, but it turned out I was feeding myself to a Dragon Knight around 3 times. After that using my max-aura I helped the bot's assault out with the top passage. After this little platoon of bots and I took out the first 2 towers, the whole team got together and took out the enemy base (I'm not good with the names of things, sorry) and it's establishments. Even though I ended up with 0 K 7 D 1 A, I thoroughly enjoyed the game!
You need to 'mix' their voice levels in skype as well as the ingame sound settings, keep your computers volume at a fixed level and adjust everything accordingly till it sounds nice. I tend to prioritise my voice over in game sounds as thats what people will want (hopefully) to focus on rather than in-game SFX.
- Don't worry about mixing your mic as you can do that in your edit software separatly on a different track, just make sure audacity is picking up your mic as much as possible without it clipping (Waveforms hitting the top and bottom of the timeline = turn the sensitivity down)
Also one thing that might help with your framerate as I have been having similar issues with my casts, as soon as you launch dota2, got to task-manager and go to dota2.exe > set priority > realtime. You might need to hit 'show processes from all users' before it allows it to happen, but that should help out a fair bit.
On a side note (and a shameless plug) new videos are out, this latest Slardar vid has a noticeable improvement in the framerate (fewer and shorter drops). Hope you enjoy :)
Edit: Also, most annoying ES to lane against ever. He brought like 4 clarity pots right at the start D:
The tiny feedback sound may be my lapotop. We recorded one really exciting game only to find that my external mic's breaking and has terrible sound quality now, so we recorded this one with my internal and it is so much better. I'll check audacity and see if I can mess with my laptop to get it computing more quietly. I'll try mixing in Skype and I'll check out Audacity soon.
Thanks, Edvinas and Sir Psycho Sexy. I'll see if I can get that framerate worked out, too. I turned AA on too which may have also been part of it.
first time playing pudge went
6-1-10 online and not bots
Woah, my first win didn't register, but my first defeat did. One guy left immediatly, I assumed that "safe to leave" won't damage the stats. Just wow.
its possible to bind "dota_range_display" to a key? i tried but it doesnt work
new favorite hero is zeus because it means i can buy a bottle first and whoever takes mid against me has a shitty day
