I think the problem with a lot of Masteryorgi's voices is that they're trying far too hard to be a certain kind of voice. Expanding on what I said above, Roxy's one is great apart from a couple of times for me, but the Tavros, Equius and Gamzee ones are terrible for me. The Equius one just doesn't fit, and Gamzee's one just sounds terrible and just as unfitting. As for Tavros, I'm really tired of him being portrayed with a high-pitched and squeaky voice.

But to say one thing of my over-analysed and overly serious rant, I'd just like to say that I could listen to that Dirk all day, for his voice is the greatest.

i don't like his Eridan voice, though. In the comic I get the impression that he's ridiculously whiny, which would probably go to his voice as well. Him sounding all royal doesn't really fit with him being a huge whiner and his "wwavy" thing.

His Equius is a bit too calm, but I think that's more because the comics he reads off don't show off how easy he is to piss off and how mad he really does get when he does. If you wanna see what I'm talking about, through a few pages after his intro in the Act 5. The dude pretty much completely loses his shit over something as small as his milk glass breaking. It helps explain why he needs Nepeta, even if she does playfully antagonize him a lot (something else fanartists seem to forget).

Tavros always read as kind of low pitched, and mopy to me.

Kind of like Eyore from Winnie the Pooh but not quite that dreary so much as the same kind of voice.

Are we discussing headcannons for voices and how we don't like Yorgi's voices?

I always imagined Equius sounding like Nathan Explosion. Don't really care for the prim and proper voice that Yorgi does.

Also when I was reading through I imagined Eridan had some sort of slurred American southern accent, with the way he was dropping gs off of the end of words and acting generally like an ignorant idiot. A bit like a redneck or something. After hearing Yorgi's voice my brain kinda mashed the two together in to a redneck british guy. As I was reading through I actually really liked Eridan and I thought he was hilarious because I was reading him as a hopeless egotistical redneck. Then I saw what the fandom did with him and I sorta started to hate the character.

I do like his Gamzee voice, though. When I read Gamzee I read him more or less like Yorgi's, except not quite as harsh and raspy? I read Gamzee kinda like a younger-sounding The Dude.
