No idea, I think it's 2.4GHz or something, I bought it 3-4 years ago, I can search around upstairs for it

Try and get a Q6600. With a decent cooler you can get them up to 3.6+ Ghz.

I wouldn't shy from the AMD FX either. Cheap yet good is what I'm looking for here. In fact, AMD's are pretty well known for having a better price/performance ratio. Of course any CPU, either AMD or Intel, would do.

The i3 2100 is very good for the price.

So guys a friend of mine wants to find a laptop with the following;
i5 or i7 (mostly i7)
8GB of RAM (He will NOT budge on this)
Good GPU
And all for under $800.
I have told him over and over just go with 4gb or 6gb and get a better GPU but he will not listen.
Refuses to believe me. Any help in finding a laptop?

So my budget is up to about $900 and My current specs are
AMD Phenom II X4 (3.4 ghz)
GTX 570 MSI Twin frozr III
650w psu
4 gb of ram
2tb hd
What do you recommend me upgrading to? Or should I at all?

Keep the 570, that is nice. Maybe consider upgrading to an intel build?
Everything else is good, if you can afford it you could go to 8GB

You don't really need to upgrade at all, only if you want a bit more performance. The Phenom II is showing its age a bit though

i've tried different combinations, both monitors and both adapters works, the bottom dvi port does not.

I'm looking to upgrade my computer sometime before June and am wondering if the next series of cards (Nvidia or AMD) or any new intel CPUs are supposed to come out soon.
Right now i have an ATI HD5770 and i5 dual-core 3.33ghz with the motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128409.
Should I upgrade soon or will the next line come out within the next few months? I don't really want to get a new motherboard if I don't have to.

If i were to switch from my Ati Card to an nvidia, how would i go about it with the driver issues they have such as you can no longer use an ati and have a physx slave?

So I want to get an NAS (ie. computer with loads of hard drives) for storing my linux distros. However, when I tested my transfer speed to another computer over cat5e cable, I peak at about 10MB/s, which works out to 80mbps, which is close to the max transfer rate of my router, a 2wire 5012NV.

Question is, how can I speed this up? I was hoping for 100MB/s or somewhere close. Do I have to get gigabit NICs at both computers? New cables? New router perhaps?

It's cheap because it's 6bit color+FRC. Not 8bit color like most IPS panels. This Asus is a bit more but it has 8bit color. However the reviews claim that there is noticeable backlight bleeding.

Was thinking of upgrading my graphic card, I recently changed from 545w to 600w power supply so I'm also hoping that's going to be enough.

I have a Radeon HD 3870 X2 running in crossfire right now with Intel Q9300 2.5 Ghz quad core and 4 gb of ram.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a GTX 550 and was wondering if that'd be enough for me to run games such as The old Republic (the mmo) and Skyrim and so on, on anything higher than low.

I'm also wondering if my computer is actually compatible with a Nvidia card and if the rest of my computer is decent enough not to bottleneck.

I'm not very good with hardware.

3870 X2 in crossfire as in two 3870 X2s or one 3870 X2

a GTX 550 Ti isn't a very good card for the price, you'd be better off going for a 6850 or saving up some more and getting a 6870 or 560 Ti

every other part of your computer is up to par and I'd say a little above average, and yes your computer can use an NVIDIA card

It's one 3870 X2 pretty much, I'm also on an extremely limited budget as I have JUST enough for the 550 and I don't have any decent mean of income right now.

Can the Raspberry Pi run off of 2 AA battery's? I recall it could...
If so what was the run time on that?
Anyone have an easy circuit for 4 AA battery and how I can use those WHILE having it plugged in (rechargeable batts) ?I plan on haveing A usb hub pluged into it so i can have 4 slots - Should i include some kind of cooling or vents? Do they make small fans?

Okay, I'm not sure if this will fix my network connection problems but one of my system 32 files recently got infected and my anti-virus quarantined and deleted it

Could someone possibly upload the file for me?
its at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\AFD.sys
I have windows 7 32-bit I tried copying the file from a vista computer and that didn't work.
