First off, I already know about that whole Comics thread, but most of the tutorials there are gone. Theres also no GIMP tutorial on how to make speech bubbles, Clip pictures together, etc etc. Does anyone know how I can do that? And don't tell me Picnik. Because the maximum pictures you can collage together is 4 and Im such a cheap bastard that I don't want to pay for premium. Can someone help?

So wait, you already admit to knowing that you posted in the wrong section, but you did anyways?

You're instantly 300% cooler than anyone who's made this mistake before. It's not a problem, or at least not unless you have 4 posts and joined this month. You're a cool guy, sorry if I came off as mean/rude/whatever.

Again, it's not a big deal, we just get a lot of this happening around here.

    Edited:

It might be in your best interest to try a different (more user-friendly) image compositing program. I'd recommend Paint.NET, but you're on a Mac. I'd say just go ask either the Creationism Corner or some other section of there, they know the ins and outs of stuff like this better than any of us would.

    Cheers.

Its fine. I was debating to either post this in the Comics tutorials thread, but that would be a bump, or here. Either get yelled at for bumping, or get yelled at for posting in the wrong section and i took my chances with here.

Anyway, I was under the impression that GIMP WAS user-friendly. I just thought I was a dumbass who didn't know how to use it properly, though I guess I still am.

First, use the Ellipse tool to make the main body of your speech bubble. Use the Bucket tool to fill the ellipse in with black.

Use the Path tool to rough out approximately where you want the tip to come out.

Adjust the tip so that it curves the way you want it to. Pretty easy, just click and drag to modify the curves.

When you think it looks right, hit the Selection From Path button in the Path Tool options. Bucket-fill it black to match the ellipse. Use the fuzzy select / magic wand tool to select the entire black area. Go to the Select > Shrink menu, and shrink the selected area by however thick you want the border to be.

You'll get something that looks like this.

Delete this new selection, leaving you with a black border shaped like a speech bubble. Clean up any rough edges and add text.

Program: Comic Life, does that 123213 step to make a speech bubble into a one step drag and drop. although its not free (at least legally) but if you really want to start making comics this is worth investing into its only like $20 anyways

Thank you. I may be a cheap mosuckra, but I guess its worth it.

    Edited:

Alright, I've finished the first part, but how do I edit all of the comic strips into a single one? I currently have 4 pages that I would like to "clip" onto each other, if you will.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking.

You have individual panels that need to be combined? Just copy/paste them into the same image. When you paste something in, look at your layers dialogue. There will be a new layer called Pasted Selection, or something similar. If you rename the pasted layer, it will become its own 'real' layer, and you could then paste another panel in. If you need to resize the amount of space you have, use Image > Canvas Size. If you need to resize individual panels, use Layer > Scale Layer.

What i do is create a 2000x20000 image, paste all the images, add borders, speech bubbles, etc. then crop.
