[Will add music if I can figure out how to work the damn thing *angryfacehere*]

Meh, more experimentation, utilizing VMan's tutorial for editing, mainly with the smoke, enjoy or loathe, meh, here you go:

One of the few images I've done with no lens flare (Cos you guys seem to just moan about it :|) but I've spent time on the smoke, so, C&C appreciated.

    EDIT:

A new version of this picture is in the making, will feature different lighting but will basically be the same pose

    EDIT 2:

Heres the new one, used the tut that Chesty made, might be shite cos I'm new to the colour thing but meh, I gave it a go

(Oh, and about the crappy shadow, I know about that, I forgot to undo it and I'd already saved the image before I noticed it :/)

Mate, that's my style, the model thing is the fact I haven't installed many new models yet, so I'm sticking to the skeleton I know, and that's not 07, that's 09, the lighting isn't flat either, you might want to rethink what you said. I have a style, I stick with it, it doesn't mean my pictures are the same, it means they are similar, plus, that map's lighting is great for my style. Besides, I was asking him *shrug*

    Copypasted smoke.
And that's the problem with having a limited palette.

Say, is it me or do you nitpick every one of my screenshots?

flat lighting, bland camera angles... it's not really a style. it's more like lack of a style

lol no mate it's seriously flatter than a pancake. let's look at it in greyscale:

no contrast in values at all. let's look at your range:

lol really? that grey is your peak foreground focus' highlight? that's really damn flat

why not make an effort and mess about with some sliders?

took me literally 20 seconds, if that

    very similar

And that's the problem with having a limited palette.
what palette? what are you talking about? it just looks lazy. smoke is affected by light - it should have highlights and shadows. yours does not

Dude, the hell? I spend time on these, plus I'm new to it, I try at least, but I can't work well in brighter images, dark ones suit my editing type better.

Plus, it's a lot easier, and I have mucked around with the sliders, all it does is make my picture look like a cartoon. I'm sorry I don't have as much experience as you, but I have only been doing this for a few days now.

Hey hey just take it easy, Chesty is only giving you criticism. You don't need to apologize for anything. We may all know you're new but you don't have to take it that hard, at least everyone here has been through the same thing as you.

    Yes. Why not?

I also see now that the smoke from the barrel of the left (his right) gun is a bit too bright.

    Well technically...

    so, C&C appreciated.
... C&C is nitpicking, so yeah, if you post pictures here for everyone to see and appreciate comments and criticism, nitpicking is what you'll get.

There's no clue as to what just happened when the photo was taken. It would make sense if there were bodies on the ground or something.

While chesty is here giving help, might as well throw this in.

This thread taught me alot about how to balance, blend and effectively use color to my advantage.

The angle's cool imo, and the reload's cool too. But others are kind of right about the fact that it needs a different color shceme and i think the best way to tackle it would be to try a new map dude. Pick like a brighter map
