I'm travelling away very soon and I won't be back until sometime late next month. I'd highly predict that there is going to be a TF2 summer event and by the time I get back it'll be all over. I'll be taking my laptop with me.

Basically I'm looking for the lowest quality config file so TF2 can become playable on my laptop. These are the main specs of my laptop:

    Model: Acer Travelmate 4233WLMi

    Alongside these launch commands:
    Code:
    -dxlevel 81 -heapsize 524288
Even using this config I average around an unplayable 5fps, and I also cannot access my backpack.

    I've also used this config:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_lTUI-9v9g
    Same results.

My laptop temperatures dramatically increase to 80C despite completely dusting it out yesterday and having applied new high quality thermal paste a short while back, I'm on a completely fresh new install, and I also cannot play Half Life 1 since it's also unplayable.

Is there a better config out there? Or is this the best I can manage?
I don't care how bad the game looks, as long as it can actually be playable then I'm perfectly fine with it.

I suggest you get a macbook pro or a similar laptop that can run games on it because my other laptop cannot even handle steam

Yeah, that config certainly helped me out a lot and it enabled me to play TF2 with decent enough frames.

Right I'm back and I tried out the Max FPS config. It doubled my current framerate to 10fps which is still unplayable on my end. Personally I don't really think I'm gonna squeeze out anything more since I'm most likely reaching close to the limit unless I download a custom low quality mod, but even then if I can't play Half Life 1 then I don't think I'm gonna get anywhere close for TF2 to be playable. Thanks for the help though folks.

    Install the lowply modelpack.

N64 style TF2 modelpack, it is there somewhere.

Updated Low Poly pack from the old school thread:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?a9i0742azo0f4rs
(with this i was able to play TF2 with a decent framerate on a really old laptop, Athlon XP 2600+ and Radeon Mobility 9200, but it was almost an year ago)

Flat world textures from TF2 Emporium 36:

GMA 950 drivers (hope you installed the updated ones, don't stick with the crappy default ones):
