    chill OUT
As someone who's suffered eye damage from bright flashlights, I can say fuck you. Less than 30 feet with a 350 lumen flashlight left me with spots on my eyes for over a week. I'm not throwing around bullshit feelings, I'm telling you that you will pose a danger to other players with a super ultra bright light. Go ahead and do what you're gonna do, but you should pray that you don't meet up with me in a game and end up blinding me.
    30 feet and 350 lumens
    make that 1000 lumens

I have a 200 lumen flashlight, and trust me, it's more than enough for covering your form if you shine it at someone. I used it during a night game to light up pretty much half of the field.
(although i think it might be more than 200 lumens since it was actually brighter than everyone else's at that said they had 250 or 300 lumens)

Trust the people that already have these flashlights, 1000 lumens would be enough to blind someone for a good five minutes

I think you should buy a tracer unit with tracer BBs, they work pretty well in the daylight so I'm told. But that's just me, I don't think blinding people is a fair tactic in Airsoft.
It's plenty fair and tracers are way too expensive. For .25 tracer bb's it's almost 1 cent per shot, and I'm using a support weapon.

I like how I ask for help finding a flashlight and everyone starts debating the ethics. Chill out guys.

    Fuck off simpleboo
we're advising you that unless you're aiming to actually do serious damage to someone's eyes, you don't need a fucking 1000 lumen flashlight
it's almost as bad as buying a laser and shining it in someone's eyes

seriously, you could blind someone just like in BF3 with 200 lumens just fine

Take it from someone who owns a 200 lumen flashlight, you shine someone in the eyes with it up close (10 feet or so) they're going to have a small fuzzy spot in their vision for a few minutes. I know because I've tested it on myself, strobe included. That's why when I go close quarters with my flashlight I'm aiming center mass so I'm not directly pointing it at their eyes.

Using 1000 lumens is just overkill. Your talking about levels that are close to that of construction work lights, and those are too fucking bright to look directly at.

Also an issue with using such high powered lights is it blinds you indirectly. You may shine it towards your enemy, but if you have any walls or cover near you it's going to light that up too. The end result is you kill your natural night vision and have to recover from it, which takes up to a half hour. Hence why you get flashlights with adjustable brightness.

I have a 300 lumen flashlight and it's nice, but I want something brighter. A 1k Lumen light has less of a chance of blinding you than a <5mw laser. Thanks to whoever linked lights, but the rest of you should do some research about this being blinded by light bit you all keep going on about.

I'm not talking about blinding in the permanent sense, I'm talking temporary blindness or fuzziness of vision. It causes a potential hazard on the field. You blind someone, shoot them, they're dead right. Well their vision is slightly impaired when they walk back to spawn or whatever, next thing you know they trip over a rock or branch and twist an ankle. They can link the cause of the injury back to you.

    Think of it that way.

I've had an 800 lumen shone at me indoors and out and it does not impair my vision for more than a few seconds.

I live in SoCal, so we have all kinds of fields. 300 Lumens is really bright. But for a support weapon with a long inner barrel that enables me to engage targets further off, I need the beam to go further and have a sustained brightness.

Then you need to learn about flashlights. It can be as bright as you want, it won't have anything to do with the throw of the beam, and I'll bet you a dealextreme light will just spray it everywhere and have very low reach. This is more what you're looking for:

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, or you could get a Surefire with a nice focusable beam if you want overkill. Considering every single person in this thread has stated that being blinded by lights can really fuck you up, you may want to listen, we're not hating on you, we're trying to help you out. I also think you'd be better off upgrading the hell out of your LMG's accuracy setup, because that's 10x more valuable than a blinding light.

Here's my biggest question, why would you blind someone instead of shooting them? I mean blinding does have a suppression effect, but I think I'd rather shoot at the enemies instead. Another point I'd like to make is that the brighter the light you get, the less battery life you'll have, and considering you're running a support weapon I imagine you'll need long battery life to keep the light running all game.

    Edited:

Also, have you considered investing in a high quality laser? A buddy of mine had a fantastic green laser that had more than a half mile of range, and it scared the shit out of players. If you tune/upgrade your hopup and inner barrel correctly, the laser will eliminate the need to spot your bb's in flight with a light.
Oh yeah, which support weapon are you throwing this on anyways?

Red laser can work as well if it's a darker area. Some fields ban green lasers around here unfortunately, but the red lasers are more than enough to make some think twice about running out of cover.

I'm kinda happy my site bans green lasers, somebody there had a 10MW green laser. Why the fuck they thought that was a good idea i'll never know. Second dumbest person I've seen at a site.

In terms of flashlights, just get a streamlight similar M3 style torch. The king arms torch I picked up has a nice throw of light (Kinda narrow with range) advantage is you can whip it off your rails and onto the pistol dead sharpish if needed, plus polycarb lens.

I was just reading through the thread and noticed everyone talking about causing eye damage with the flashlight.

Unless the flashlight contains UV (ultraviolet) rays then the intense brightness from these lights should not cause any damage to the eyes. The UV rays are what damage the eyes, such as sunlight, welder torches, tanning beds and things like that.

Between work and being sick all week I haven't been to Airsoft in such a long time. I used to go pretty often but once the holidays started I worked like 6 days a week and was usually broke anyway because of Christmas gifts.

I probably won't buy much in the coming months. If they ever release the KWA Kriss or the TM Springfield XD I'll bankrupt myself if I have too.

The most I see is maybe $80 worth of accessories to finish tricking out my Type 89 and that Revolver I wanted to get so many nights ago.

I don't get why you'd want 1000 lumens, its like having 550 fps with .48, it's dangerous and unnecessary. There's no point in hurting someone over a game.

Does it come in a version with a red laser?
