your guess is neither educated nor correct, and anyone who thinks he will even break his arm or wrist much less blow it clean off is clearly talking about something they do not have any conceptual grasp of nor practical experience with. he will not cause himself any broken bones. at worst he might hurt his wrist a little, enough to tell him 'hey maybe you should adjust your grip there, cowboy'.

how do you quantify that value? are you even aware of the manner in which revolvers behave during recoil due to their design, the grip type, the weight distribution and the peculiarities of the specific cartridge used?
it's not an educated guess because you're making it up as you go along. an educated guess would be using personal experience or actual, quantified values. you're drawing from neither.
i'm not on a high horse at all, i'm merely sick to death of people parroting the same stupid gun myths over and over when they don't actually understand the topic at all.

A 357's recoil is very big.Thats why it *might* take his arm off.

The only half decent thing in the picture is the posing, everything else is just bad. The angle and composition is really awkward and confusing; why are the rebels out of focus? Why isn't it the other way around? Why is the angle so extreme and just overall awkward? Is it being taken by an incapacitated person with a handheld camera or something? Also the scene itself just sucks. Everyone's firing simultaneously from a stupidly close range and (apparently) missing every shot. None of it makes sense even from a hollywood action film theme perspective.

It might not be practical (one handed shooting in general isn't) but it's fully possible without injury. The worst even a .500 S&W could do is sprain your wrist and fly out of your hand.
