Well, after a [too] long absence from the comic I finally got around to completing the next part. Now, I know people nowadays are like "What's VANDAL?" and those few who do remember are going "I really don't care anymore." Well to hopefully counter-act that problem I decided to re-release Part One and release Part Two with it. That way it will refresh your memories (for those who have seen the first issue) and newcomers to the series will be caught (really, there's not much to be caught up on but, you know).

Originally the plan was to have the next part (the part of the comic that took about a year to finish, Christ I'm slow) would be Episode Two. However, after much deliberation, I decided to condense the two episodes into the first parts of VANDAL (especially given the direct continuation between the two). Another reason I included Part One here is because back when I first uploaded it, the quality slowly and surely deteriorated into a mess. IT was readable, but didn't look too pretty. I'm hoping with this release, the quality (as I fear is some mistake I made way way back when) will be better and those problem will either be reduced or missing entirely.

Also, I may not be able to fit all fifty-five pages on one post. So if you happen to finish before I finish hosting, please refrain from posting until I finished hosting ().

    Part One:

Good stuff man, good to see there's still some hope for decent comics. Couple of misaligned text bubbles here and there, but tis all readable.

Hope you get the next part done a bit quicker than this one.

Edit: For all you folks who've read this and then buggered off, 'tis common courtesy to at least leave a comment after someone's spent so much time and effort creating something to entertain you.

1.) Did you read the blerb?

2.) Did you read the entire comic?

    1) All the blurb tells me is that the quality (and I'm not even sure if "quality" refers to the jpeg compression) got terrible... but no explanation as to why (also, god-damn, why do you expect me to read your little preface? That was the most inane drivel I've ever had to wade through and it still didn't give me an explanation).

    2) I see that obviously the quality (of the jpegs) improves in Part 2.

I don't have an explanation as to why the compression is like that. If I did I'd had fixed it upon it's original release. I didn't expect the that bit to entertain you, it's informing you about somethings. I expect you to read it so you don't make a comment about it when clearly it's different in the newest part and when it's explained (for the most part).

People should always read an entire post. That's why that stuff is there to begin with.

That was beautiful piece of artwork, editing wasn't overdone, layout wasn't anything too fancy, but it got the job done, and the dialog and posing were amazing. I'm sorry to see the horrible compression in the first part, but it's not your fault, and the comic itself certainly makes up for it. It has been worth the wait, and I can't wait for the next part.

I lack the proper words to express my immense liking of this fine comic my good man!

Really LOVIN' how the characters seem to have more personality than usual by-the-side people. Nice lookin' story.

A but wonky speechbubble placing and spelling at times though.

I would certainly hope the characters work out. A large part of Vandal, as you've seen a bit here and you'll see in further future episodes, is that characters are an integral part to Vandal and its purpose as a comic.

The speechbubbles and spelling thing... all I can do sigh and laugh at myself. Reading it over and over and yet still not noticing these issues? Aye carumba! It's almost like your mind fabricates it to what you want after a while.

Actually that's exactly what your mind does (in regards to the reading).

Since you wrote it, you know what you intended to say, and as long as the majority of the word is spelled correctly, your mind will simply assume you spelled it correctly. So you read it correctly, and don't notice the spelling error. That's right, folks - your brain skim reads (at least when it's your own work).

It's a classic trick to proof-reading: read the entire paragraph in question backwards, starting with the last sentence and going to the first. That way, not only will it not make sense (forcing your brain to actually struggle through each word to try and make sense out of it), but it's also not being read the way your brain remembers writing it, also forcing your brain to slow down and actually read the word.

On-topic: Last I remember it was pretty good. I read it a few days ago now, and I can't read it here because all the big images are absolutely slaughtering my campus's shitty wireless. I'll add to this post more useful criticisms and comments when I can. All I can say for now is that, without a doubt, it is a very good comic, Ben. :buddy:

Was the character "Miles Strong" a parody of "Miles Straume" from the television show "LOST"? Both are chinese and everything.

Because if it is a reference, I present you with my applause.

If I knew what Tnb was... :raise:

You may see that a lot in my the stuff I make. A lot of times an idea would come my way and later I find out it's been done, in either the exact same way, or similar (I could draw similarities from Avatar to what I got going with the Vortigaunt Chronicles, for example.). Or there will be times where I think something is new and fresh only to realize it was just something I recorded in my memory resurging (As was the case with Robert Hawkins whom bears the same name as the main character in Cloverfield and you may catch it too with another character in this comic who bears two names from other movies/shows, as I found out later.)

In this case, Miles Strong is definitly a play on the character from LOST. When generating names (which has become a some-what hobby of mine) for this comic I struggled on naming everyone but Leon, Robbie, and Quintin. I like to refrain from names such as 'Jack', 'John', 'Dave', 'Josh', etc. I like going for lesser used names. Miles, from LOST, being among my favorite character and being of asian descent himself; I thought it was an easy one to get away with (without any harm to my... I don't know the word, credibility?).

Normally these idea anamolies are accidental. Other times I add them in as a personal inside joke. It's just one of those ways of going crazy.

That was brilliant. Reminds me of that realy serious comic on PHW, whatever twas called. Have to say, though, I was a little annoyed by how each panel had one speech bubble only, meaning there was a full panel for every single line of conversation. Maybe if you put more than one into each the thing'd flow better. Might even save you some extra work. Just a thought.

Are you talking about Apotheosis? Or the comic that old member Frashfink made (not sure if I got the name right)?

Overall, I thought it was quite awesome, as some have mentioned, there's some misaligned text here and there, but it's all perfectly readable and doesn't detract from this being a cracking read.
