I'm going to tell you a story, about a girl named Katie, someone who I went to school with a few months ago, and yes, this is a true story.

Katie was the type of girl into emo or metal music. Had the teased hair, skinny jeans, black makeup, the whole nine yards. Now there are girls at my school, mainly the preppy ones, who judged her, made fun of her, how she dressed, how she looked, etc. She seemed really quiet, and downcast, mainly because of all the people coming down on her. At first I though her style was a bit different, but not in a bad way. It made her unique and it made her stand out from the rest of the Hollister/Abercrombie crowd. So one day, I see her walking in the courtyard, and I decide to walk with her to class. I introduced myself, as did she. And she was nothing like I expected. I was ready to hear this hardcore girl, always hating life, not wanting to live or having tons of problems, but just from her saying "Hi, I'm Katie", I knew I was completely wrong. She was the sweetest girl you could possibly meet. She was full of life and curiosity.

I guess my point is that when you judge people from the outside, you never know what that person will truly be like under their layers. You say their retarded bitches and they don't like your music, blah blah blah, but what if deep down, under the makeup, the clothes, the cell phones, and other items, that they share something in common with you? You judge them, but only by their outside appearance. If I looked at you, I'd think you're a fuckwad (I don't really, but this is an example), but I know there's more to you. You need to give girls like that a chance. Even if they don't like your music, it doesn't mean you can't find a median, or even introduce them to other bands of your genre. You need to open up more, despite physical disabilities, appearances, or other trivial categories. The more you open up to the outside, the more people you invite in, and the better chance you have of making new friends, or even a girlfriend.

I don't think you're quite getting the point though. I want a girl like the one you were talking about, someone who's different and stands out from all the other people. Unfortunately I'm beginning to doubt girls like this actually exist because I've yet to see one in real life.

Changing my way of thinking won't make the kind of girls I like start existing, especially if I've never seen one anywhere around where I live.

Changing how you judge a person will though. It's about how you see the other person outside of normal viewing.

I really don't think you're getting the point. let me put it in bold and caps, maybe you'll understand it then.

I DON'T LIKE NORMAL PREPPY GIRLS AT ALL NO MATTER WHAT. I WANT A GIRL THAT STANDS OUT FROM THEM BUT THOSE KIND OF GIRLS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND.

Are you just going off of what they look like? If you've never talked to any of them then you don't know. Some girls it's just a show they put on to not get picked on.

If they're secretly just as much of a metalhead as me but they're hiding it by being a prep that's horrible because they're not being true about themselves and are therefore probably not someone I would want a whole lot to do with. I'd rather have someone who doesn't put on an act.

Okay so you expect everyone to be totally open if that means getting picked on a shitton? I know some girls like that and they're cool. They just aren't thrilled about being picked on which makes sense.

They shouldn't care to the point where their favorite band is Burzum but they cover up that side of them in a million layers of prep.

No. You're not going to dig through the layers of prep to find a serious black metal fan deep down inside. You're going to dig through the layers of prep to find more prep.
