I hope you see that I'm acknowledging that you have enthusiasm and mean well, but you're stepping on toes because you don't quite understand how things work yet. This isn't a reflection on you, just your newness to FP. Lurk a bit and see how things work. The rules may seem harsh and hostile, but they're here to maintain order. Not making pointless and duplicatory threads is a massive part of almost every subforum's rules for a reason: A forum of this size quickly becomes completely unusable if there are no rules on creating new threads, because most users won't read the rules or use the search function. A twenty-four-hour ban brings the rules to their attention and informs them that they have to make an effort to fit in with the community if they want to stay here.

The mods need sleep sometimes, and besides, the mods clean up by locking threads and issuing one-to-three-day bans (or as long as a month for repeat offenders). The rules are designed to cut down on the number of pointless threads. Your thread was, in the blunt objectivity of the Rust subforum's rules, unnecessary, even though you mean well. There are already plenty of existing threads for issues -- the idiots should be reusing those threads, not piling into a megathread that [I]you[/I] and you alone decided would be appropriate and necessary for the forum. I have more to say, but these fields have a 1,000-char limit.

I understand that you're trying to be helpful, but I suggest lurking more before you try and take a leadership role in the Rust subforum, especially when you just signed up. Facepunch works a little differently than a typical forum community.
